Does anyone know of a website with instructions on how to connect a VCR, DVD and a DirecTV receiver together? I've googled and cannot find anything, so I'm hoping someone might know where to start looking.

I can handle hooking up a VCR to a TV or a DVD to a TV, but hooking all three up together is a bit confusing.

    Thanks,

    Chris

*still have flashing 999 on my VCR, think I'd be any help???* lol

But in a few years Jackson will be hot wiring everything in your house. Just wait and see. We have a wonderful computer wizard who keeps all of our electronics "wired".

    Lots of luck, Chris.

Mine has the DVD scart lead out of the DVD and into the back of the telly at AV1. (You should have at least 2 scart sockets in your TV).

The incoming signal goes into the decoder via a co-ax cable, out of the decoder into the video recorder via a scart lead, then out of the video recorder into the other socket (AV2) at the back of the TV, aslo via a scart lead.

Even if you don't use a decoder, the incoming signal must always still go through the video recorder and then on to the TV.

Tex, You can download the system manuals from DirectTV's official site. :)

Big Tex. Traditionally cable tv and satellite providers, provide that info on their websites, as it is an oft asked question. Make sure you know what inputs/outputs you are going to use, (co-ax, S-Video, composite, etc) to ensure you have the necessary cords.

Too bad, I'm so far away. I could do it for you. I've moved our entertainment unit out so many times to add/disconnect componets, I eventually went out and bought heavy duty "dolly" wheels to make it easy to roll out. LOL

    Good Luck

Yeah I looked at that but that only tells me how to hook up one to a TV, not both. Or did I miss it?

Big Tex. Do you still have the manual for the TV?

How many video inputs does the TV have?

Howdy Dave. Yes I do. It's an older TV (Sony about 10 years old) and it only has 2 -- video in video out. I'm wondering if that is my problem.

    Then I suggest:

Connect your DirecTV signal to the DVD input.

Then connect the DVD output to the VCR input. (so you can tape from DVD to VCR)

Then connect the VCR output to the TV input.

Both the DVD and VCR may have to be turned on for the signal to reach the TV

I'm sorry but I don't want to hijack this thread but just looking at xjw's connections reminded me of the song.

I can't remember how it starts but the ankle bone connected to the shin bone, the shin bone connected to the knee bone, the knee bone connected to the thigh bone, the thigh bone connected to the hip bone and so on.

    Sorry I couldn't resist
