Gary: I was not saying that being selfish is wrong. Like you, I also appreciate people that are good to me

LIke you, I also have had to simplify my views, to that which directly affects me.

Although I am willing to accept the goodness of indivuals in any religion, and to accept any kindmness extended to me by religious bodies.I also, understand that reliigions have done, and are doing a lot of bad to a lot of people.

I am not saying that friendship with Hitler was wrong It was not, and neither was derriving benefits from that friendship. The Hitler regime was nice to a lot of people and it did a lot of good.He is responsible for much technological advancemts, and many medical advancedments with a special thanks to the human guinea pigs he used. He was a very good friend to the German people and was good to a lot of people Other entities also allied themselves to him and Hitler helped them with their enemies

But you have to also understand that Hitler did a lot of bad to a lot of people including the jws. Reliigion is the motivating force that both unites and seperates people. It is doing more harm than good by turning people against each other on religious grounds. I dont think the world needs religion in order for people to be nice to each other. To the contrary, it seperates jews moslems and xtians.... A lot of moselems feel about jews and jews about moslems and moselms about x tians and xtians about moslems....... the same way you feel about the wts because their loved ones have been killed by them

Although catholics in their roles are nice to us we cannot be oblivious to the harm caused directly by religion to others.

Fearof, Thanks for the reply. I am enjoying our exchange. You wrote:

    I understand and agree.

Reliigion is the motivating force that both unites and seperates people.

I understand and agree it is one element in society that unites as well as separates people.

It is doing more harm than good by turning people against each other on religious grounds.

In my life that has been very true.

I dont think the world needs religion in order for people to be nice to each other.

In my life, religion has been a snare and a racket. It has mostly been a bad thing.

To the contrary, it seperates jews moslems and xtians.... A lot of moselems feel about jews and jews about moslems and moselms about x tians and xtians about moslems....... the same way you feel about the wts because their loved ones have been killed by them

Again, I agree. Fearof, I think we are mostly on the same page. Now I understand what you have been trying to convey to me. I am a pragmatist and a humanist and a non-theist, so I tend to the abstract. I have appreciated your comments. Thanks for staying with me until I understood you. GaryB
