Yesterday, visited the hall for family reasons.

WT was about elder positions, educate younger brothers, delegate your work etc. The usual story about the body of elders, give younger people a change and don't get atached to your position.

What was evident: 90 percent of the answers came from the sisters.

The elders looked like the house cat just eaten Tweety.

Never heared so much theory and knowing it will be fully ignored.

Why make it a 45 minute issue for every Tom, Dick and Harry?

    G.

I suspect much of this study was aimed at those in Special Full-Time Service. Application on the local level was incidental, secondary and a cover for the true intent.

Why else mention Peter, once "overseer of the Service Department", and Paul who took over? The local friends have no clue what the Service Department does. Those in special fulltime service Know that Service is who calls the shots, right behind the Branch and GB.

This whole mag. was subtle jabs at malcontents within Bethels around the world.

how about the district overseers' positions that were eliminated? not even missed by the newly empowered circuit overseers? just an oversight of redundant overseers?

The fact that this current generation does not want to make unnecessary sacrifice may very well be the final nail in the coffin. Here are two of the biggest factors effecting the organization in the U.S. -

    1) Nobody really believes the end is near. Overlapping Generations is the 1975 of the late 20th century/early 21st century. In fact, it is much worse than 1975. This doctrine basically means that the end may never come in this century either.

    2) Generation Y or "Millennials" have a much different value system than Generation X and Baby Boomers. Generation Y seeks balance between work and play. Jehovah's Witnesses teach that one should sacrifice satisfying all desires of today for a future that may never come in your lifetime. That is in direct contrast of value system in the new generation.

There will always be those uber-dubs that will qualify to be Ministerial Servants and Elders, but the organization is losing them at a higher rate than appointing them.

Yeah, it was a really weird study. As most are these days.

I was thinking about it during the study, that there used to be fairly deep if not accurate studies. At least they were targeted at the congregants at large.

These days the studies are pigeon holed to certain groups much of the time.

A while back they had a study targeted to those missionaries in foreign lands with heir children. How much more of a specialized audience can you get?

Almost every article is filled with what they think or should be done, but it is just a list of things elders ignore. What will the WTS do, remove them, then who would carry out the WTS/GB directives?

How lame, where is the actual worship of the Lord? I always l left the meetings spitting nails. Why did I have to get all dressed up in skirt and hose, going out in the cold to hear this?

I won't read the article to better understand, but it sounds like a warning to elders and malcontents to go along with changes, and then also a way to address radical changes to the rank and file. Expect new people to come along and old people to be removed.

They probably expect many problems because they may wind up closing many Kingdom Halls and congregations.

That is like your boss writing you a long memo, dressing you down and telling you to not get too comfortable, and making you discuss it aloud at a meeting with your staff.

    Well done, wts
