Just spoke with my mother about the summit for North and South Korea, her face turned a ghastly pale and she refused to talk to me about it afterwards. I know exactly what is on her mind, and I'm not sure if I can say or do anything to assuage her fears about this being a fulfillment of prophecy. Any suggestions on what I could perhaps tell her to try and steer her from her line of thinking?

Do a Google search and compile a list of all the "peace talks" concluded by enemy nations during your mother's lifetime, and then ask her why the Korean peace talks are any different. That might cure her JW speculation.

Is this the whole cry of peace and security thing? I always had issues with that. I could see god stepping in if the world devolved into chaos by throwing it into even more chaos to prove a point (???). I never could understand it when they started saying that maybe it would look like men were achieving peace and then the big g would drop in to mess them all up. WTF is that supposed to prove? It's all just the JWs hedging their bets over predictions made from a nonsensical old book.

Poor people like your mom get screwed up in the head because of the idiotic prophets in NY. Funny but just a couple of months ago I'm sure there was talk of North Korea being the King of the North and now it's in their conversations of Peace and Security. They don't know whether they're coming or going.

Remind your mum about when USSR collapsed. The day when Americans and Russians thought they will leave in peace. The day when communist regimes where falling a part and all world was turning into one big family. The day when many witnesses thought Jehova himself destroyed USSR as no one on the planet could have guessed that, even Americans. The day when many witnesses thought that JW work will be allowed not only in Russia, but in China etc. So what do we have now? USA and Russia continue to fight. All world didn't became one family and countries continue to hate each other. JW dreams of whitnessing in China fully collapsed. But GB doesn't care about 1 billion people! that didn't get the good news and the Armagedon will come despite of that. The timing of the saying peace and security is at the end of the 42-months when the wild beast/8th king kills the two-witnesses. It has nothing to do with NOKO and SOKO saying it or like many others think of it having to do with Israel and Palestine.
If anything this Scripture seems to be being fulfilled:
Daniel 11:27 “And as regards these two kings, their heart will be inclined to doing what is bad, and at one table a lie is what they will keep speaking. But nothing will succeed, because [the] end is yet for the time appointed.
The two kings here are referring to the king of the north and the king of the south…so you can see how fitting it is at this time in regards to NOKO and SOKO, but unfortunately this can’t be the fulfillment of this because NOKO does not fit the role of the KOTN/8th king.
