Nor was JIM JONES.
Nor is the POPE.
NO MAN IS GOD.
But God DOES have a purpose to all the pain we have suffered......the lesson is found in the book of Job.....and it is the greatest lesson man must learn.
The only lesson I've ever been able to derive from Job is: "Do not curse God no matter how miserable he allows your life to become."
Were I to follow this lesson, I would be opening the way to allowing the Watchtower, Jim Jones, the Pope, L. Ron Hubbard, Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh, Sun Myung Moon, or any of that ilk into my life.

What a false claim. I was a Child when I first studied, and I did not find the God Of the Bible to be "repulsive." Are you sure you are not projecting your own pre-conceived notions onto others?
As a child, I found that values and morals do exist. In an historical context, we may never know the reasons why some events and judgements played out the way they did. I know from life experience that there is always more information that can be considered (Two sides to every story?).
Sometimes, the student must be "willing to learn" before the teacher appears....with some, that day never comes......

Blindzebra I never said Jesus words were poo, were any of the four points I made wrong or did God not only allow those events to take place but also directed some of them.
I believe many of the words attributed to Jesus does make and would make significant changes through out the world if more people applied them.

Correct me, If one of your oldest children tricked your youngest child into doing something wrong, which one would you punish?
If you went away on vacation and left your two teenage girls at home and a Hell angels gang broke in and started to wreck the house and then had their way with your daughters would you throw them all in jail together or just the gang members?
Satan lied and deceived, but who determined the penalty was death even though the instigators in all cases were Angels gone bad...sounds like a movie for Snoop Doggy dog.
I won't press it any further, I made the comment in jest that God must hate mankind, in reality considering the marvels of the Universe the earth must be a real disappointment considering nothing has gone right since the creation of mankind.

Sorry ThiChi. Please accept my apologies. Perhaps I was projecting......what I see as an unconditionally loving Source. Indeed this may not be evident in "events" of phenomenal "life experience". However, there is always more information if we look deeper.

How could any goodness exist anywhere in the world? Not something very nice created once, like a divinely scrapped pilot project, but constantly created and sustained all over thru time?
If evil is real--and must be to you, if you attribute it to God--how to explain how anything good could continue to exist at all? Goodness is so frail; how could an evil God allow it to continue anywhere? It would be sooo easy to just snap the lights out now without bothering making us more sunsets, lovers, children, kittens, or flowers. He should just cut to the chase and deep six us all to hell NOW, if He is evil!
