actually shamus...the two guys who do my work would probably do that for free...*LOL* Actually it comes just in time as I don't get paid from school till the end of Feb...and it that sucks big time!

My wife does the taxes. She is a tax preparer and makes some money at tax time. Some of them are really complicated, especially when they work in several different states and have a small business. It makes our tax filling complicated too, I have a rent house and she has to file her tax business. The government wants all your money if you don't have children.

Did mine by telefile yesterday. I'll be getting a tiny bit more than you, Valis, but not much. I just like to get my money back quickly so they don't keep it longer than necessary. Goes to vacation this year.

We are all prepared, just waiting for our statements from the employer, which usually don't arrive until the very end of January.
For the past several years, I do the taxes first, in a preliminary way, and then hubby goes behind me and rechecks everything--or we switch back and he does them first and then I go over them. Then we go over it together, and complete an orginal. We don't do it over the Net.
It would be so much nicer if we didn't have to end up paying. We own a home, but we have no additional deductions other than the standard allowable. We save all our receipts and documents diligently, and hubby has everything in the computer; but we just have good health insurance, etc., and so far they are within that level already figured into the standard deduction. We even have added money taken out of our pay, but it always ends up that we have to write them a check.
