    Hi r51875,

Opppps ... ... I committed typographical sin aganist the holy spirit in conjunction with unholy fading memory syndrome. I am going back to correct a few dates ... I have the full transcript in front of me, and can verify my timeline ... thanks for catching this. - Jim W.

Being newly OUT we are fascinated with all of these things that completely undo the woven lies we were taught . We have gone back to the beginning to try to piece together the truth and find out all of these "This Is What Really Happened" stories as opposed to continuing to build on a rotten foundation. Thank you for your research, and the time it took to prepare this and we will look forward to your future posts on this and other subjects. Brandon and Stephanie

    Very welcome Brandon and Stephanie.

Off course Amazing is always a best researcher in this forum

In this forum we also had JanH. he is a good researcher. too. One of his most outstanding topic (6 or 7 parts serie) about Blood Transfusion.

We also have Avenger + Gerard + Dungbeetle = They're incredibble about RandCam Engine (applied to US Army Navy) developed by 2 Jehovah's Witnesses and Watchtower Society still has 50% shares in all of those Arms-Production projects.

And imallgrowedup, she is very good researcher of all business by Watchtower around the world

    Cheers,

    Hi Amazing,

    Another informative info thread!

Here is an article I found online,

"Judge Learned Hand and The Espionage Act of

    1917: A Mystery Unraveled "

    by Geoffrey R. Stone

    http://www.law.nyu.edu/faculty/workshop/fall2002/stone.pdf

The 1917 Espionage Act was an unjust law. It was essentially a "gag order" placed upon the American people to prohibit and suppress any speech that might even be slightly construed to be against the war effort. Even speaking about certain historical matters of fact would lead to a conviction under this Act if they would cast the then current war activities in a bad light!

Any old world despotic dictator would have been proud of the Espionage Act. I am surprised that it was passed here in America.

Good point VM44 about the Espionage Act.

When I was a dub I bought into the whole concept of specific targeted persecution against dubs during the war. However reading history one sees that this period of time saw perhaps the worst suppression of human rights during the history of our country. Dissent was ruthlessly suppressed. The few courageous men like Robert LaFollette or Eugene Debs were either silenced or imprisoned. The more I read about Woodrow Wilson the more horrified I am.

I do have the Revelation Grand Climax book here and on page 168 ,( the rejoicing of revelation 11:10), it states that there were 8 convictions . Ray H. Abrams in his book , preachers present arms , published in 1933 states that he believes it was all about religious persection from opposers of the russelites. Just thought I'd throw in the official WTBTS statements .

... And Russell taught the Two Witnesses in Sackcloth were the Old and New Testaments! As Casey Stengel used to say: ``you can look it up!"

    Hi VM44 and r51785,

War time does bring about supression of rights ... this was true during the civil war, etc. I do not necessarily condone the anti-sedition acts of any country ... were this trial all about the few passages in the Finished Mystery book, maybe Rutherford might have had a point. Rather, they were active in trying to persuade members of the military to leave their assignments, and were involved in resisting the draft ... all when they had no religious policy ot doctrine of neutrality ... a position they also testified to under oath.

The fascinating aspects of this trial is that it was not a railroad job ... they were not exonerated ... the Judge and Government protected their rights and did not persue them after the war ... and most of all, they admit under oath that they rushed the publication of the Finished Mystery book to assure it would appear to fulfill prophecy and make more money ... they also admitted that the Bible Students always acted out of conscience and that they had no central doctrine that members had to subscribe to.
