It was just on the BBC radio news about the ARC. I wonder if the JWs that most of us have told about it will hear it and start connecting the dots. This is real, it's not just what 'bitter' exJWs are saying, it's not all lies.

What stan said, x2.
As i said when the ARC kicked off forever ago, its a toothless dog. Anything the arc writes or wrote is utterly unenforceable and will drive zero change in the org. I hope everyone feels better for having done it.

nowwhat?
What happened to " be in subjection to the superior authorities"?

I don't believe it is a "toothless dog" Morpheus.
Certainly victims of abuse are feeling better for having gone through it and will be able to sue - if they so wish - with greater confidence that they will be listened to.

recommendation for the Roman Catholics: scrap mandatory celibacy for priests, (to give them a sexual outlet) make confessional (The one witness rule) open to reporting. More severe imho, than witness directed changes sought.

Seems utterly ridiculous to me that a western society is still talking about things like "confessional seal and sacrament" etc in 2017.
If a secular society feels it must have organized religion then make them pay their damn taxes and be accountable for all their actions like the rest of us are. I am so sick of religion's free pass.

Some of the recommendations are
Australia wide law requiring all adults to report known or suspected child abuse in Religious and other institutions.
A nation wide web site of child abusers.
The J.W's never took the ARC seriously and i doubt very much weather they will take on board anything from it.

Based on an interaction I had with Witnesses who used to be close friends last week (Families who have young children too), when I asked if they were aware of the ARC and the abuse issues worldwide...well, they had NO IDEA!
The GB have done an insidious job at white-washing the topic for JWs

Freddo, if any good came of the ARC it was people being able to give voice to their abuse and perhaps help someone else do the same or maybe prevent it from happening to someone else in some way, and in that regard it was certainly worthwhile, without any qualification.
Some seem to feel that the ARC would prompt major changes in the cult, and i can bump at least 5 threads that support that view. From that perspective the ARC was and remains a toothless dog. Unless the jw’s are mandiated to change they simply will not. The ARC had no legal authority to force change and so no change will happen. Toothless.

Sorry to say but these recommendations still fail to legally enforce all religious organizations like the JWS to report all possible occurrences of child sexual abuse to the proper local law authorities so they can make a thorough investigation.
Until that happens the WTS will play it their own way and that means cover up instances of pedophilia to protect their public image of themselves.
