What if JWs voted in elections?

All this political banter is exhausting, so I want to ask a question that has probably been asked before, so here it goes…

Let’s try to keep this non-partisan - just give your opinion and why you think that way.

I’ll go first. I think JWs would generally lean to the right, but not by a whole lot. This is based on their more traditional views on family, and I think the left’s embrace of transgenderism and non-traditional life choices would alienate most.

However, I think a significant minority would be put off by the new-right’s populism and it would seem to them to be at odds with the JW creed of “every tribe and nation”.

I’d say they’d spilt 60-40 towards the right.

According to Pew Research in the US in 2014, as you would expect, most JWs refused to answer the question on political affiliation or stated a neutral position. But out of those who answered the question and stated a party political preference, JWs were overwhelmingly Democrat supporters, by more than 2 to 1. JWs are disproportionally female, black, and have lower education/income - all groups which traditionally lean Democrat to varying degrees. Pew also classes their ideology as conservative largely on the basis of answers to questions on abortion and evolution. Have things changed since 2014? Maybe there’ll be a new survey soon.

While expressing the expected views on abortion and evolution, it has been my experience that when every JW that I have ever known over the decades lets the facade of neutrality slip has very strong left leanings especially when it comes to feeding at the public welfare trough expecting/demanding that someone else is responsible for their financial, emotional, and physical well being. Just my personal observation.

Almost all I know lean dem. Big believers in the dole, gun control, reverse racism(equity), soft on crime, belief that money (other people's only) equates wickedness. Fully believe in the green stuff despite the evidence of the costs and constant climate change is all mans doing. They believe migrants all come through the turnstile. They look at a benevolent talking person ignoring her history (horizontal harris) and cannot look past the jerk personality of trump-he is not alone in his philandering

If you go to the congregation where a friend lives there are more educated upper middle class who covertly support guns for defense, personal responsibility. So maybe more conservative.

Abortion is not mentioned. This is a pro abortion(past pro choice) state.

    I am middle right

Even though mentally many JWs would lean to the right, it would not be in their best material interest to vote this way.. That is not the party of handouts.

Too many JWs are dead-beat city, so I expect they would vote democrat.

Coincidentally, just today my JW Dad (yep still kicking) expressed his disgust with the so-called modern Right. His objection was a rather insightful recognition that women should be the ones who make decisions on matters like birth control and abortion, not government officials. He of course opposes abortion but opposes government intrusion into personal and religious matters more.

We also discussed the stupidity of believing caring for sick and elderly is communism. Everyone knows there is no way to make money insuring the sick and elderly, and that a civilized society must share that burden knowing our turn is coming.

I'm certain he would vote Democrat this election if he could.
