I think a large part of it is the right's deep affiliation with religious groups and organizations. My mother was studying with JWs in the late 1960s and was baptized in 1977. Not long after, Ronald Reagan became president and the Repuplican party openly courted religious organizations. For JWs, that meant the GOP was in bed with the whore of Babylon, false religion. By itself, this would have made it very unpalatable to vote Republican.

Also, we were poor and dependent on government programs. Reagan was famous for making an example of the "welfare queen" and promoting self-reliance and self-dependence. My mother was like many JWs, scraping by on low income and state handouts. Democrats were promising to protect those programs and even expand them; Republicans were complaining that those programs were already too generous.

In other words, it wasn't the entire party platform that JWs were voting for. Democrats support abortion, gay rights, and are seen as undermining religious authority. These all would be big red flags for a JW. But they also support welfare programs, broader health-care coverage, unions and worker's rights, progressive tax systems, and so on. All of these will appeal to low-income families, who wonder how they can be struggling so badly in the world's wealthiest country.

I could imagine her holding her nose as she voted Democrat. But she would just as soon cut off her own hand than vote Republican.

Had I not been raised as a JW, I would probably be conservative (Right / Republican). However, because of my upbringing, I find myself dead center between the left and the right.

JWs' theocratic vision for the world is one without countries and borders, where everyone is equal and the diversity of cultures is experienced through music, food, and clothing. It's a beautiful dream.

Unfortunately, this vision of the world is utopian. In today’s world, culture is tightly linked to their countries of origin and their religions.

People who have left the JWs know all too well that religious people lie. They say one thing in public and practice another in private. For instance, JWs tell the world that they don’t practice shunning when, in fact, they do. Or that taking a blood transfusion is a personal choice, when, in fact, it isn’t.

The same can be said of other religions whose values conflict with the host country, such as Christians, Muslims, Jews, and others.

In Canada, religion has mostly been removed from politics. As a result, views previously seen as incompatible with religion, such as women's equality, LGBTQ rights, sex before marriage, abortion, drug use, and more, have become accepted. Over the years, most Christians have peacefully come to terms with these changes. As a result, we now have a country where human rights take priority over religious views. This is also one of the reasons why living conditions tend to be better than in many other places and why many migrants come to Canada to live and share this dream.

Sadly, this is not the case for a significant number of migrants. Based on demonstrations and political activism that we see on the news and social media; it is easy to see that many strongly identify with their countries of origin and their religions.

This directly conflicts with the vision of a peaceful multicultural country that, I believe, Trudeau naively supports. Unfortunately, he and his political party even go a step further: they assume that people who fear such individuals are inherently racist nationalists. Do they even understand that people will boldly lie to protect their beliefs?

The country believes in religious freedom, but the religions do not. Many Christians, such as JWs, will retaliate against their children when they leave the faith. The same can be said of other religions, some even more violently than others!

All I can say is that I dream of a world where these words from Pierre Falardeau, a well-known separatist nationalist in Quebec, would make sense: "If you share my values, I don't care about your race and where you're from; I'll call you my brother."

As it has become obvious by all the different views. Democrats are for welfare programs, Republicans don't want that many because lots of people abuse them. Democrats are for abortion, Republicans not in many cases but not all. Democrats want open borders, Republicans want "Make America Great Again"

The problem all around the world is that we can't sustain Huge Countries with Millions of people with different beliefs, Customs, Culture, Religious orientation, etc., and expect a small group of people to be elected and make important decisions for the millions and millions of different tribal, racial, and religious groups.

It won't work indefinitely. Sooner or later Civil War will break out amongst the different groups, and the Nation might fragment into different Countries just like the continent of Africa.

First of all, humans don't need leaders, period. But in the evolutionary process of reaching our potential as a self sustaining human species, we still haven't reached that point of understanding. The majority of humans haven't grown up. The majority of people still want someone to take care of them, they still want parents to care for their needs.

As a result of not growing up, many humans are irresponsible, many woman have tons of babies with different fathers and want welfare programs to care for their stupidity. Many men are also idiots, in that they impregnate tons of women and won't accept the responsibility to care for their own children, they want the State to care for them.

So who pays for these irresponsible men and woman? The law abiding, hard working citizens. They are the ones that pay the price.

On top of that, we still allow Greedy, Power Hungry men and women to obtain power. And once they grab power, they control masses of people to their demise. A good example of this is Bill Gates. Yes Capitalism works for some, but for the majority, it does not.

Bill Gates was allowed to become a Billionaire. With that much power he is buying thousands and thousands of Acres of Farmland. What do you think he is going to do with all that farmland? He and his decedents will control all the food in the USA. He is already using his power to derail many farmers and put them out of business. Capitalism, Socialism, Marxism and all those political structures don't work.

Whether we like it or not, Billionaires/ aka the Elite, determine your life because they set the parameters for the masses of citizens who are not Billionaires.

What humans need to do is decentralize all these Nation States with Millions and Millions of people run by a few men and woman. It doesn't work. The world population needs to be broken into small communities. Communities small enough where every responsible voter votes for policy that affects the community and not elect individuals who make life and death decisions for them based on factors like; She is a "Woman....Woman of Color.....or Good Looking.....or a Man that is Good Looking......Tall, ...etc.

The majority of US will not vote for polices that affect them, they will vote for a person's looks, gender, race, tribe.

A generation of 18 years old kids who believe a man can get pregnant is allowed to vote. How do you think that will affect the lives of the majority.

Young girls are allowed to vote for war, which will force young men to go and die, but the women who voted are exempt from going to die for their beliefs. They can stay in the comfort of their home and have a nice career on only fans, becoming a millionaire in a matter of a few years. How is that fair.

Elections and Voting for an Oligarchy is a Scam. It's worse than the scam the Governing Body is using on its members.

Jehovah Witnesses feel no social responsibility to help the poor or needly. Nor do they feel it is there role in helping people fighting for there freedom ( Ukraine ). They are poorly educated half-wits who partake in the adulterous idol worship of men. They feel to need to tell you how they feel about everything all the time and how there is a better world coming just around the corner. They hate gays, trans and women who have abortions.
