I was out for approx. 5 yrs, when I ran into my non-Jdub niece, who's mother (my sis) is a witless.....my niece told me that rumors flying all over from California to Louisiana were that I went apostate, changed my name, started my own religion, and that my sis had chosen to "wash her hands" of me......@#$%^%^&&*(( Pontius Pilate!!! Knowing my sis for what she's really like, my df'ing was just her excuse to do what she wanted to do anyway, where I'm concerned! I was frickin' DISABLED from a car accident and NO ONE, NOT EVEN MY SIS offered to help me (with the exception of one "weak" jdub fam)....the dubs were staying as far away from me as possible, for fear they might be called upon to actually help me.

We are faders. The JWs we run into talk to us cordially. What they say about us behind our back, is still a mystery and we'd like to keep it that way as long as possible. JWs love to gossip and if they don't have the facts, they will make up some.

I have a good friend that happened to be called on by the JW's in our area. She said " Oh if I have any questions, I'll just ask ********". The sister then told her that I was no longer a witness and that I was no longer capable of answering her questions. So I know that they talk all about it and even at the doors in service. Yep! Bad association!

I wished they would at least talk to me, I have yet to talk to one. All of them turn their heads and walk the other way. Even other elders. I am ready for a good discussion about the UN and Child abuse !

Dont know what they say about us. Sometimes I care and sometimes I dont.

Puternut they wont talk to you because you know too many secrets about various ones (just read the http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/6/65846/1.ashx thread) and this will worry them. My other half was an elder and the cong sec and the sort thats lots would come to. We have never even seen our PO or any of the local body since we stopped going about 3 years ago. A newly drafted in elder was sent to collect the elders book and that was the only visit. At that time we hadnt done anything that they could use against us. Now we have done xmas and birthdays etc (how wicked) but we are not DA or DF.

We would love to ask questions about the UN, the 1975 fiasco, Malawi/Mexico etc, especially of those who lived through these events in the org but I thing they keep away deliberately.

I dont think you will ever have the chance to ask your questions either.

After 10-11 years being disfellowshipped.. I got a call from a man last week.. informing me that his J.W. wife discovered I was disfellowshipped and will not talk to me anymore. No more conversations and coffee on the porch. No more conversations and discussing our kids who are good friends.

Interesting that it was her who initiated the relationship between our two children from primary to now...Grade 3.

Maybe, J.W.s.. should be like the schools with volunteers and give everyone they ever invite into their lives "background checks"...

I am currently reading a book about Princess Diana. One of her favorite "motivational phrases" was this: Be more concerned with your character than your reputation, because your character is what you really are, while your reptutation is merely what others think you are.

I think those are words to live by. Having said that, it really bugs me when I am maligned and misquoted.

Dave and I are considered apostates by most of the JW's in our area. That I don't care about. It has nothing to do with my character, and is just a true statement, the way they see it.
