Is there a doctor in the house?

Here's another subject I find ironic and interesting. I know of an elder who is an gynocologist. And he is in good standing with the organization and a well respected man.

A long time ago, out of curiosity, I asked a CO once; if we 'strictly' go by the Wt, and if we are looking at this 'objectively', openly and 'technically', and go by what the Society says about touching another person in this way, isn't this elder committing pornea every day? His answer was simple; he's a Doctor.

My answer was, I have a degree in Art and Sculpting. He mentioned that was different, after all this man had gone to college for 8 years and this was his profession. I informed him I went to college for 6, so he has two years more on me, but I also studied anatomy and the human form close up, and this was MY profession. He then mentioned about Luke being a phycisian. And I asked him, and he was anointed on top of that, right? And he was 'technically' committing pornea by WT standards and being approved by God. Well; yes and no. He was not committing pornea and yes he was of the anointed. Well, but isn't this elder who sees and feels up, even many of our sister's skirts, committing an act of that? Well no, he responded, it is for their physical well being. So just because he has a different degree, as a Doctor, and I with my degree as an Artist, which we have been given by the worldly authoritites (who we don't look up to), makes it ok for him to commit pornea everyday, and not ok for me to capture the human form with a simple pencil and brush? And if we go by what the Society prints about this, this elder is in need of discipline. And why does the Society mention, that those who touch another human in a 'pornea' kind of way, will face immediate action by a committee? He was quiet....

I don't exmamine with my hands my subjects and models between the legs. Because out fear to be disfelowshipped of committing pornea. So, than I am of the hook as far as being an artist is concerned? He looked at me in disbelief and asked me if I was a trouble maker. No of course not, I am just trying to make a point.

This is now open to the floor.......for comments

This is funny. You had the poor sap in a corner so he calls you a trouble maker. Unbelievable !!

You've obviously forgotten about the rubber gloves that doctors and photographers wear.

Well donning my dub cap I would have to say one reason they might use is that the setting in which the patient and doctor are interacting is a clinical one with a nurse in the room......as opposed to an artist and his subject alone in his studio (which I am sure in their active imaginations has a handy couch near by with candles lit and low music playing ).

Some dubs view any art showing a nude body as "bad". My parents owned a marble nude of Venus asscending from the ocean, when they died my sister didn't want to sell it, she wanted to destroy it. I kidd you not! Funny though how many dubs changed their minds about nude art after Titanic came out...."it's not a nude scene, it's art" lol

Kind of a stretch...Hopefully doctors do not have sexual feelings when giving exams...besides in paradise women won't have any womanly problems, no periods, no pms either..could it really be paradise if they did?

So a female urologist is performng pornea every day?

I think way too many men think that doing GYN exams are very titillating. For women, it is a very compromising position to be in during the exam and nothing sexual about it.

Remeber pornea is a state of mind. Just like sex.

I am a registered nurse and I work in Maternal-Newborn Care and Gynecology.

When I am examining one of my patients "down there", my intent in doing so has absolutely NOTHING to do with sex. It is not on my mind, it is not on my patient's mind. There are standards of practice that strictly forbid sexual contact with a patient other than for the purposes of examining the patient for abnormalities. Anything beyond that would cost a professional person their licence to practice. It is called sexual abuse.

During my training, I also worked with elderly males. I had to learn to give bed baths. I had to learn to insert foley catheters to drain urine from their bladders. I sometimes had to apply "condom catheters" for urine collection on male patients. Occasionally the procedures caused the patients to have erections. When that happens, you are supposed to cover the patient and leave the room until "it" settles down again, and attempt to resume the procedure a short time later. Usually the patient is terribly embarrassed but we reassure them that it is not their fault, that sometimes any kind of stimulation will cause that result.

I am not in a position to judge you on what you do in your chosen profession, and neither is anyone else. On behalf of my colleagues and my profession, I would find it extremely insulting to have my work described as porneia. I can understand why you would feel insulted when an elder makes that accusation regarding your profession. All the more reason to not disclose personal things (like your profession, income, etc) to certain ignorant, judgemental elders.

I think that you should not feel as an artist that you are committing porneia when you draw or paint a nude body. Usually nude art is not done in a way to evoke sexual feelings but feelings of appreciation for the human body.
