I need to prove that the WT BS is false

    DH,

Can I make a suggestion? Only do two points at a time! Get them do look into each one thoroughly and respond to their responses with clear logic, reason and if biblical references are used to "disprove" then you need to do some work quoting counter points. Once you have resolved those, move on to two more points. But always leave them with the ability to come back for more. That may take patience and a lot of work, but it will build a solid foundation of "proof" if ever it could be.

Rather than just laying into them with endless lists and quotes, why not order them a copy of Christian Freedom (Raymond Franz) ...

Although Ray's two books are the greatest things since sliced SPAM, one good reason not to give them the book might be that DH's friend seems to prefer things in the Society's own publications. They may be suspicious of wicked men like Ray Franz, monster that he is.

basically i need to present the truth about the truth, but only things that can be verified either in society print, or in the case of the UN, from the UN itself, no opinions, just documents that can be checked,

There are none as deaf as those that do not want to hear and none as blind as those that do not want to see

There was a time when each one of us here was as voluntarily deaf and blind as DH's friend is now. People will change on their schedule, not ours.

thanks everyone for the links and information!

    Surely you've seen http://quotes.jehovahswitnesses.com/ haven't you?

nathan, i'd not seen it until just now, i like that it's as fully loaded as the freeminds one, just without the commentry, i think that is a great site. i've actually never looked at any other jw sites besides this one i don't think.

you're right about it not being best to nail hundreds of points, and since the phone conversation i had yesterday, where i mentioned the UN & Crisis of Conscience, and the person i'm talking to has already checked out the Guardian article, so the interest to know more is there, thankfully ears aren't totally deaf, it'll be a slow process, but now i have some idea where to find the information.

I had compiled about five documents that pretty much nailed shut the WT coffin with their own words.

you have a PM runningman, thanks!

i know i say it a lot to people that need help, but if they are willing to open up, don't put everything on at once. it takes just a little pressure over a greater period of time to crack someone, whereas if you put a lot of pressure on them all at once it'll backfire. kinda like the balloon effect, if you blow them up too fast, BOOM.

Ditto on the slow progression of ideas. A dump will just bring out defences, and they will come back with a jumble of justifications. A couple of ideas at a time, however, will have them scouring their WT CD for refutations, and force them to THINK.

I especially liked Winston's DA letter. http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/9/62860/1.ashx Articulate, logical, and well-laid out.

Leave the 607 date for last. To doubt that is an automatic DF'ing offence. I would start with getting them to justify the Disfellowshipping process. They will no doubt come out with some scriptures justifying the shunning of unbelievers, but what you want is biblical justification for a SECRET JUDICIAL PROCESS in front of a panel of Elders. Where? Where? Get them to find a single example where a congregation member was rebuked SECRETLY, and the congregation never knew why? 'seems to me the rebuke and the reason were very, very public.

    Hi dh,

Here's a bunch of questions for JWs that hopefully will get them to THINK :

    Hope that helps.....

personally i don't suggest the 101 questions because its all about the translation of the NWT, which is too touchy of a subject to talk about unless you are a greek scholar (and i'm not a greek scholar and neither are most JW's). stick w/ common sense and social areas and false predictions and whatnot and you'll have a more successful of a chance than the 101 question portion....

Stick to one topic at a time. They try to screw around and throw things hither dither all the time... don't let them do that to you!

One topic at a time. when they say "what about"... just say we'll get to that, and keep going on the original piont.

One block at a time, tear they're house down and open they're eyes.

Let them find out for themselves that they are wolves in sheeps clothing.

I didn't mean for dh to thrust all 101 questions on his relative. Just pick one or two "eye openers" to discuss. Since the JW's put so much faith & trust into their NWT, doesn't it make sense that when they can discover the altered/added mistranslations of their bible, this will start them wondering WHAT ELSE is false in the WT organization?
