In both cases I mentioned, there were several states distance. In the first case it was Portland OR and then Maine, in the other case the congregation doing the looking was in Montana and she lives in Washington. So thats what's totally bizarre about it. No one is looking for me that I know of. If they are, oh well.

Every time I have ever seen my mom I told her: "Don't send anyone to my home... I'll be mean to them."
I've never had a single visit.
My experience has been that these long distance things are almost always based on some relative requesting that the individual be called on. Usually there's a letter detailing the circumstances of the individual they want the Elders to approach. If the Elders are heavy handed in this situation it's because that's their nature, or the nature of the local body. There is no mechanism for tracking people down across the nation that I've ever heard of.
U know PC,u are right, i think. Relatives, ones that have been jws and left , but still view it as the "truth" and their God Given duty to report on their family. I have some relatives like that, and they would do it just to get even with someone.
Usually they just suspect or have been told u may be not living like a good jw and so they need to flush u out and remove u so they don't look bad. And it is so upbuilding for the cong. to know their elders are out there working hard to expose the evil apostates.

I've also seen situations where goody JWs pushed the elders to deal with their parents who hadn't associated for years... but were smoking..
The elders ignored it because they weren't associating........which burned the daughter who wanted things taken care of..
A body of elders can do anything they want, anytime they want, for any reason they want. Joe and Barbara Anderson are the latest and most notable of that statement. If a certain body of elders wants to come after someone who's been out for 12 years, they'll do it just for spite. If they don't give a damn, they won't.
And don't think it doesn't get personal.
It sounds like a vendedtta (serious spelling mistake there). I can't imagine them coming to find me... if they did, I'd tell them to piss off, only substitute piss with something more interesting.
This policy of hunting inactive people down began last year in earnest to coincide with the memorial. This was official policy that I believe was stated in the Kingdom Ministry-although the official reason for hunting ones down was to see if they needed "help" which was more like a way to see what you were truly doing. Well, I was targeted and sure enough two elders showed up at my house, even though I live an hour away from my old kingdom hall. I'm so priviledged and grateful that these two men drove an hour just to spy on me. Well, I was sleeping and my wife didn't wake me, darn it. Although, she did easily dispatch them in a orderly fashion. They just wanted to know what I was up to-any dirt they could find-nothing would please them more. They were surprised when my wife told them that we had just bought our house not too long ago and that I was going to college. Funny, they didn't really have anything to say about that-hum-why would I go crawling back to them.
Lately, I feel like I might start to challenge the elders and my old kingdom hall. I wonder just how much I could get away with-how much apostasy could I do-how much damage could I inflict before some one would challenge me. Right now since I've faded and they have nothing on me-I feel invincible. I say look out-it's my time to hunt some people down.

You know you pissed them off more than they can bear; you showed them that you're truly happy. Man, they are pissed at you!!!
How dare you be happy and successful! You just got revenge on them. Imagine what they lying about at the kingdumb hall right now.... be glad that you don't know and be even happier that they're petty little lives do not bother you.

I think y-all are too easy of this bunch of Pharisees! Anyone who has not yet been contacted by the Elders, but feels they may, should beforehand think about what they want to say to these men. Tell them of their lack of love. Tell them how they failed YOU as shepherds! Tell them how their very actions and unchristian ways helped you see the lies in their false religion! Call them into account! Tell them they should think long and hard as to whether they should continue to be Elders in light of their poor record. Maybe they should step down and take a year off and re-evaluate what they are doing. After all God will hold them accountable for the lives they have lost! And tell them not to just pass it off on the other person, they were NOT doing their jobs! Shame on them! Then before they can respond, hold up your hand, and walk away! Maverick
