Many Witnesses take pride in being part of a 'clean' organization, but is it really?
Consider a few real examples:
You attend a congregation in which many of the young girls get pregnant by their
'worldly' boyfriends. They all get reproved or re-instated and get baby showers with lots
of oooing and ahhhing of their cute out-of-wedlock babies. In addition, their boyfriends
often appear to be of limited earning potential. You are afraid that this has become a
defacto standard of behavior among the local Witness girls - and you have a daughter.
But, according to Watchtower rules, the congregation is clean!
You are an elder in a congregation in which a repentant child molester attends and goes
out in service. You know that such people can't be cured and wonder about his behavior
with Witness kids. But your congregation is clean.......
An elderly brother's serious sins have been exposed. His conduct ( drinking, smoking,
adultery, being gay) has gone on for decades in secret. Was your congregation clean
all those years?
Your congregation is ,frankly, cold. The elders do their duty and follow all the
rules but there is little social activity or real friendship. Your congregation
is 'clean' .... but so what? What spiritual value does being clean have?
Your congregation has a steady stream of young Witnesses being df'd or leaving.
In addition, you notice the elders seem to deal most harshly with poor kids
and offer every leniency to their own children. Is the congregation 'clean'?
I have based the above on situations I know. Beyond the above, there is the question
of the leadership itself - which has its own issues with hidden alcoholism, fraud,
dismissing 'whistleblowers' on child molestation issues, and often, a deep lack
of love for the friends. Is the organization really 'clean'?
