especially some kid that has to suffer his whole life, but goes to hell because he does'nt know Jesus? If you believe that, the F-you!!!!

I never believed any of that even when I went to church as a child before I was JW. I had a nice older lady tell me that my friend, who was 12 and just died from leukemia, was in hell if she wasn't saved. I knew she meant well. She was a very kind person and loving grandma to the twins I babysat for. I knew what she was saying was some ridiculous manmade teaching. I was 13 and I was smart enough to figure that out. I knew my friend might have been mischievous at times but she had never done anything to deserve being burned forever. I didn't think anyone had done anything that bad.

When I was four, my friend Eddie who was 5 or six was ran over by a car. His parents were nominal JW's at best, studies I think. After he died, my parents said I would'nt see Eddie in the New Order because he said bad words. It traumatized me for years. Can you believe that bullshit?

    Ash,

I understand what you're saying, but listen to the point of view of Catholicism on this issue. In the Garden of Getshemene (sp) Jesus took on the guilt of all sins everywhere, past present and future AND was tempted in every way a human can be tempted...to include anger, etc for the situations which you mention. Further, Christ was completely cut off from God the Father, ["my God, my God, why have you forsaken me"] something that had NEVER happened before, something no human has ever experienced...this would be equal to the pain of losing a parent, friend, or child. Cut off from the source of all love he still loved us enough to see this thing through to the end. This seems to be of little comfort, but I encourage you to meditate on this for awhile...your line of thought seems to follow that of some early christian gnostics who thought that since Christ is God he didn't suffer, but removed himself from the shell of his body and laughed at the executioners. Jesus suffering was real...and physically horrible, but the mystical aspect of his death (taking our guilt, etc) is just so awesome if you contemplate it. Think on it for a while.

    taking our guilt

Then why do most christians feel guilty, and atheists not?

Gee, Paduan, I never saw it that way. Now I'm converted. What he went through is so much worse, than say, someone who died in a concentration camp, watched their family die, and was castrated in German medical experiments w/ no anasthesia, and THEN tortured to death. Yup, Jesus suffering is SOOOO great!

    SS,

Convicted criminals often feel no guilt for their crime, and those who are not guilty often feel unwarranted guilt. I'm talking about culpability and you're talking about an emotion...how about this...he takes the culpability.

Well, Yeru, If he is God, and God god us into this mess, should'nt he take the guilt and culpability anyway? Oh, yeah, I know, we're all inherently "bad". Would'nt that ultimately be his fault as creator as well?

    Ash,

God didn't get us into this mess, we did it all our own...free will is a bitch.

And to top that all off he had knowlage of what lay ahead of him after death with certainty.

This is the part of Jesus 'sacrifice' that always bothered me. For someone with a lifespan as long as his, his suffering was very shortterm. It was also unneccessary, something imposed by a sadistic father following some system of rules only he can understand.

Frankly I see more sacrifice in the fireman entering the burning building, the person pushing the child out of the way of the oncoming truck... these people don't know what tommorrow holds for them.
