The biggest benefit would be no more middle east oil politics

This to me, if there has been a proper peer review and the experiement can be repeated as done in proper science (right hooberous et. al.) will make hydrogen very feasible.
This is a huge step forward.

Amazing
Hawkaw,
Excellent news ... it is very feasible and would help arid areas by having a lot of water vapor emissions ... and I like the idea of ending dependency on middle east oil that Stillajwelder noted ... Hydrogen would be good for every energy need ... and if it can be safely applied locally, then we wold also end the need for a power grid ... ugly power lines ... power interruptions for a whole area when a line goes down ... one less thing for terrorists to attack ... and we could eventually decommission our coal, oil, and nuclear plants ... because large industrial sites and large highrise office buldings could have there own building power. Thanks. Jim W.

Good News! We can soon tell the Middle East what to do with their oil.

Wait a minute - ethanol is made of Carbon, Hydrogen and Oxygen - C2H5OH.
1. The article may lead to the impression that you can take the H out and the C and O just go away, but that is not what happens. Where do you think the C and O go? The boogeyman "greenhouse gas" CO2 won't go away, will it? Or does the carbon precipitate out in the form of diamonds?
2. It takes ENERGY to strip H out of C2H5OH, and that energy "cost" has to be figured in when you calculate to energy released by burning H. It's a sure thing that simply burning the C2H5OH will give you more NET energy yield than cracking C2H5OH will.
Did yuo know that there is more hydrogen in a gallon of gasoline than there is in a gallon of hydrogen? Sounds paradoxical, but its true.

I've been a big fan of Hydrogen for a long time... but recently I learned that Hydrogen itself is a Greenhouse Gas.
When it escapes from it's containment vessel, it floats straight up into the air and reacts with other gases forming a new greenhouse gas. -

Some incredible developments are going on. In the latest issue of Discover Magazine, there is an interview with a geneticist who has succeeded in doubling the life span of worms. Not only do the worms live longer, but they stay young longer. All indications are that it will work on humans.

I can see the SPAM subject lines now:
Men -- A more youthful, longer lasting worm can now be YOURS!
