Here in the southern US, we love our Coca-Cola so much that to us, all soda pops are called cokes.

"Hey, are you going to the store?"
"Yeah, I'm going to go get a coke."
"Oh, man! A coke sure would be good right now."
"You want me to get you a coke?"
    "Yes, please."
"What kind of coke do you want?""I'll have a Coke."
"I'm going to have a Dr. Pepper."

Notice that the generic coke is spelled with a lowercase 'c.' While the brand coke is capitalized. Of course, this is only of use to you if you are reading a conversation between two southerners.

I have recently stopped drinking cokes and switched to water. I like it right out of the tap. When I lived in West Texas, I had to chew the tap water before swallowing. It's much better here!

Drinking 5 glasses of water daily decreases the risk of colon cancer by 45%, plus it can slash the risk of breast cancer by 79%, and one is 50%less likely to develop bladder cancer. Are you drinking the amount of water you should every day?

what the heck! where did those stats come from?

I drink about 3 or 4 liters a day of water. Soder is only an occasional treat for me. I like pepsi but it's too sweet and makes me very thirsty. coke gives me an upset stomach.

I have my doubts about coke disintegrating steak. I'm going to check it out on snopes.com. I love milk; hardly drink pop. Can't stand water very much, but sometimes it really does hit the spot.

Also: Late Hello to Tiamat from the first page!

Wonder how you got ignored (though I didnt read all the threads)? You slipped past somehow.

    Hope you'll post again soon!!!

LOL @ CountryGuy,,,,,you are so right down here(Louisiana) we call everything Coke. If it is non alcholic and has fizz......it's a coke. ( But we know the "real thing" when we want it , right?)

    Dede,

They do that in other parts of the south as well. My grandma from Georgia used to tell us to go get us a co-cola.
