Robdar inspired this thread in me. Her thread asked why aren't you at the hall and it made me think about how I would be IF I did go.
How would you dress?
How would you act?
Where would you sit?
Would you speak to any?

I did go to a hall just once. I dressed in a skirt slightly below my knees and acted respectful only because I didn't want to embarras my friend or make him look bad.

I wore trousers, acted respectfully, sat at the back, and left halfway cuz I couldn't stand it anymore ...

LOL,
I can see myself sitting there and feeling the same way....wanting to leave. I would stay untill the song if I couldn't take it knowing me.I would be afraid people thought I was pissed and feel it would give them a reason not to like me.
I like it when they like me.... and that they feel bad that they like me. 'Maybe it makes them think about the foolishness of shunning ' I figure.
I would also be respectful, but would say a quick hello to a few I thought might respond if others weren't watching. I wouldn't sit in the back either......probably about 3 rows from the back where I always sat.

Nah.....that's not mean. Your nose would be right up there with theirs.

I would probly find someone to argue with , like I did last time . I was wearing jeans and a T - shirt . I was probly marked or some BS even tho I"m not a dub and never have been . I didn't bother to sing any of the dreadful songs even tho people kept trying to give me a song book and I sat as they prayed from the platform and didn't say amen . (was not praying with them) . They do say a person can pray in any possition anyway , so what's wrong with sitting ? Why do they think you have to stand to pray?
Heathen......you heathen bastard!

I sat down many times when my back hurt. It was never a problem. It's a customary dub thing.....but not a strict requirement.

Athanasius and I went a couple of years ago. I will let him tell you what he did.
How would you dress?
I wore a very short skirt--more like a blouse. Oh, and a cross. I also had my eyes made up with lots of make up.
How would you act?
I acted like I was on my honeymoon because that's what Athan and I told them. That we had never met before in person, only on line and we decided to get married in Vegas and meet there. We were in KC to tell my pentacostal parents how naughty we were.
Where would you sit?
They sat us toward the back so that they could keep an eye on us.
Would you speak to any?
Yes, they cornered me in the bathroom and love bombed me. Heck, one of the sisters who was running late came upon me in the parking lot taking a smoke break. She smiled and spoke. LOL

I did have to go to the hall a little over 1 month ago for a memorial service for an elderly woman that I loved dearly. I wore a turtleneck and a blazer, dark jeans and loafers. I sat near the last row, but only because my mom thought that's where I had to be and she sat with me. I spoke to everyone (after all I can speak to anyone...they can't speak to me). I got some cold icy stares and some warm welcomes, it was really mixed.
If I had to go again, I would do it all the same, except that I would sit closer to the front or the middle.
