When I think of Satan ChurchLady pops into my mind
Satan? jehoober? Both as useless as each other if you ask me - in fact, they could be one and the same. Neither will give you any attention, and, if you are expecting prayers to be answered, well both will let you down there as well.
jehoober wouldn't answer my prayers to win the lottery, so I did a little praying to satan for some success. No results there either.
I'll stick to praying to myself.
cheeses.
IMO, Satan has been given too much attention recently. Satan exists only for Christians aswell. They're keeping him alive with all their talk of him and his wiley ways.
Since I don't believe in One Ultimate Evil entity, I don't believe in Satan.

Yup, he (she?) has got my attention a few times.
I wasn't looking for a bad experience, but one came my way.

?? I thought that had been going on for at least the last two millenia

You mean that no other religions have their version of "demons"?
Hmmm, I suspect that "fact" to be dubious

Yeah, you are right. I guess I meant on this forum and in the minds of JWs he is getting too much attention - but of course you are right it isn't just recently.

I meant that Satan - The Evil One opposed to God - is a christian construct (largely, I know we could go further back into the roots of the idea...) Most other (non christian) religions do not believe in one evil entity and one good entity (with their respective followers). Islam has a Satan doesn't it?
As for other religions, many accept the existence of "evil" but do not see it as the entity Satan. My beleif is that there is no real "evil", just that certain beings operate on a "lower" level and can be harmful to us. Also, many nasties can be given life by the workings of our own minds.
I'd like to know more about your experiences with Satan, if you'd care to share.

So what's wrong with labelling that "Satan"? Or are there other considerations regarding word-triggers, at stake here?
From a biblical perspective, I understand that Satan is refered to as a "he" (but then, so is the Holy Spirit, whom I suspect is a "she"). However I don't see anywhere that has Satan as the absolute opposite of "God". Yes he is characterised as evil, but not "absolute evil" as a counterpart to "God's goodness".
Is that which is called "Satan" or "The Devil" really that individual character, or another similar in focus? (still using the biblical perspective as a framework for mutual understanding, here)
My own experiences were pretty horrific, and included physiological manifestations. At least one time in particular it had a sense of "femininity" about it. Hence I suspect there is some form of gender, else that is how it's interpretted by our senses.
As with any such experiences, they are "better felt than telled", and totally open to misunderstanding on such a forum as this. Hence I usually only speak of such things in small groups, or individually (good or bad).
How many times do I have to say this LT...I am NOT Satan!
But, but, but...
...you said you were.
That was you, that dark night in Morecombe, wasn't it???
