Prince Edward Island has just declared STATE OF EMERGENCY .. as well.

    Glad your okay Talesin.

RCMP are now telling pedestrians to stay in out of the storm.

They have no way to get to anybody...They are only going out if the situation is life threatening.

Motorists who are stranded are being told to keep warm.. but also keep their windows down about 1" in case of carbon monoxide poisoning.

Plows are only working to take police, firemen to life threatening calls.. with long waits. Paramedics are dealing with people over the phone as best they can.

Plows are also working with Power Trucks to get them to downed lines... other than those things they are just on standby.

A 18 wheeler just called in to the local radio show..he's been bunkered down since 5:30 this am..He's been stranded almost 10 hours.

    .......................

A friend with a Monster truck took hubby to work this am.. around 6 am.. He's called and it looks like Daddy isn't gettin home tonight... and will have to sleep at work..

    Power is flickering again...

Ohhhh.... how I can give you some of the hot and warm that I feel here. Only you need is a piece of sun, and maybe if you think in the next summer you can get not depressed. Be ok.

They're calling it a "Weather Bomb" on the news. Winds 90-100 KM/H. Plus 58 centimetres of snow so far... it is beyond belief, and I can only imagine how the wind must be making the walls groan.

Thank goodness the power is still on. I can't believe that it still is!

Be ready for anything; it's still going strong, I hear.

Dear God Special K when you said a State of Emergency was declared in Nova Scotia I thought Tim Hortons must be closed or something.

    LOL, shotgun!

I bet they have the back-up generators with a direct line to the local Timmy's, LOL!

Wow. That looks very nasty. And the potential of flooding along the coastline, with high tide. Hope the power stays on.

==DISCUSSION== A VERY INTENSE LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM SOUTH OF NOVA SCOTIA WILL MOVE TO
LIE JUST SOUTHEAST OF CAPE BRETON ISLAND BY THIS EVENING. THIS STORM
HAS ALREADY BROUGHT AS MUCH AS 70 CENTIMETRES OF SNOW AND BLOWING
SNOW TO THE ENTIRE PROVINCE. NORTHEAST WINDS OF 70 KM/H GUSTING TO
    AS MUCH AS 120 KM/H
WILL CONTINUE TO GIVE BLIZZARD CONDITIONS
THROUGHOUT THE DISTRICT THIS EVENING. FURTHER SNOWFALL AMOUNTS OF UP
20 CENTIMETRES ARE EXPECTED THIS EVENING. OVER THE EASTERN SHORE OF
NOVA SCOTIA AND SOUTHEASTERN CAPE BRETON THE SNOW CHANGED TO RAIN
THIS AFTERNOON BUT IS EXPECTED TO CHANGE BACK TO SNOW THIS EVENING.

THE COMBINATION OF LOW PRESSURE AND STORM FORCE NORTHERLY WINDS OVER
THE SOUTHERN GULF OF ST LAWRENCE WILL GENERATE A VERY LARGE STORM
SURGE OF 1.0 TO 1.5 METRES IN NORTHUMBERLAND STRAIT ALONG THE
NORTHERN SHORELINES OF NOVA SCOTIA. THE STORM SURGE WILL BE
COINCIDENT WITH HIGH TIDE IN MANY AREAS LEADING TO FLOODING ALONG THE
    COASTLINE.

ALL SHORELINES FROM CAPE TORMENTINE TO WESTERN CAPE BRETON WILL BE
AFFECTED TO SOME DEGREE. THE FLOODING WILL BE WITH THE HIGH TIDE
THIS EVENING AND WILL END OVERNIGHT. STRONG ONSHORE WINDS WILL LEAD
TO ICE PRESSURE NEAR THE COAST LEADING TO POTENTIAL ICE RIDE UP AND
PILE UP ALONG THESE SHORELINES. FLOODING IN SOME AREAS MAY BE
SIGNIFICANT BUT IT IS NOT EXPECTED TO BE AS BAD AS DURING THE STORM
    OF JANUARY 21 2000.

HIGHER THAN NORMAL WATER LEVELS ARE ALSO EXPECTED THIS EVENING AROUND
CAPE BRETON WITH POTENTIAL FOR MINOR FLOODING PARTICULARLY ON EAST
    FACING SHORELINES.
