How often could things have been sorted with just a few words, rather than that?

I know what you are saying but this has been tried and doesn't work ... the debate goes on and on and people just refuse to accept things, the whole things escalate and additional topics get started. Sorry, but I'm not prepared to put up with that.

We don't go announcing every little thing - if nothing else because if people do want to disrupt and cause trouble it just plays into their hands giving them the attention they are after.

We have several additonal things we can check up on so we nearly always have other information and reasons for decisions than may be immediately apparent. Jemimah / caspian was a troll without doubt but we're not going to allow the forum to become diverted into benig discussions about people like this.

Personally, I would have deleted minimus's first post on this topic because it was off topic and mindless speculation.

S'ok, I'm not trying to stir things, nor start a debate. Thanks for the reply

    So...
    ...what's this about C.O. seminars???

    Has anyone got any news?

COs and DOs routinely have refresher courses. About 3 years ago, the CO and his wife went to Patterson to be updated and "refreshed." They had to scramble to find substitute COs for my old congregation and several others as well as the pioneer school because he was gone for 2 months. Based on the reports Bethel gets from the COs and DOs, other developing issues in the news (child abuse), an agenda is developed to make sure everyone is on the same page and agreeing with the WTS. It is also pump up time. Many parts of the program are attended by the wives as well.

I REALLY found nothing wrong with IT Support's initial question. Things ARE done differently in the UK to the USA, visiting brothers and sisters told us so.

I thought we're all supposed to be innocent until proven guilty. IT Support has asked a question that might have great relevance for some research he's conducting, or it might be of interest to others. Who knows!

Minimus, no offence, but you didn't like Spanner questioning your integrity so I don't think you should question IT's. It's up to the mods to sort this kind of stuff out but it seems we've now got to the point where someone can't ask a simple question.

I don't mean to offend anyone and I hope this matter is now finished. So, could someone please answer IT's initial question or has this been a whole turnoff? Lambasting someone like this makes others fearful of making what could have been interesting replies.

    Why was Caspian deleted, anyway?

If you really want to know the answer to that question, first you'll have to convince our UK fellows that you're on the up-and-up.

    Otherwise, this all stinks.

    Dearie me, what a stooshie!

Sorry guys, I obviously touched a raw nerve here. Though I'm still not quite sure why...

Coincidentally (or otherwise), LittleToe has IMed me suggesting we meet up. No doubt he'll be able to confim in due course that I'm neither Caspian not Scotsman.

    Regards,

There was a post on this some time ago I believe. No one seems to have any info on what's going on. All the CO's and DO's in the US are also going to a school for several months. There has been little talk from the CO's about what they actually learned, if anything.

Since we are no longer considered to be of the Dub land uppercrust, we don't really see many of the "boys" now. Soon when we make our move to Florida a full time thing they won't know where we are at all and they won't be able to get past the front gate anyway.

We have asked around among the folks we know at Brooklyn and others who have their ears to the ground, no one seems to have any info. Either the school was boring as hell or they've been told to keep the yaps shut.

I apologize for asking that question and I'm sorry if I made anyone feel unwanted.

Hey, minimus, thanks, no hard feelings.

(Edited to add: I really enjoy your posts, minimus, thanks again!)

Perhaps there is a positive lesson we can all learn here, and that's to always remember that it is a public forum and not to say anything we wouldn't want repeated back to us by our judicial committee?!!

PS: What is 'trolling'? I presume it means deliberately trying to gather personal information about people on this site in order to try to identify them and report them to Bethel or local elders--is that correct? So is the word a corruption of 'trawling,' the way fishing boats scrape the sea bed trying to gather every last fish in the area?

PPS: When I meet up with LittleToe, I'll see if he knows why Caspian was deleted.
