Eph.4:11 that says, And he gave SOME as apostles, SOME as prophets, SOME as evangelizers, SOME as shepherds and teachers".......

Minimus, I've also used that scripture and all I get is a blank freaking stare. You can almost see the wheels turning in their heads: Warning! Warning! Danger, Danger! This apostate is making sense!

It's funny how they have no problem when you ask: Were ALL 1st century Christians apostles? No, of course not. Were all of them prophets? What about in the Old Testament, was every Israelite a prophet? Nope. What about shepherds? Was everyone in the 1st century congregation a shepherd? What a silly question, of course not. Were they all evangelizers? Uh, yes of course they were. Then why does it say only "some" were evangelizers?

Warning! Warning! Danger! Danger! Call an Elder! Warning, Independent Thought is kicking In! Resistence Is Futile!!

Mary, those were my follow up questions and once again, it was like trying to reason with a person who didn't understand English.

Right, min. But read between the lines. "Elders, this means you too." If it is the one I'm thinking of, it has a part were the Book Study Overseer is strongly encouraged to go out with his group. Haven't heard that for years. Nor seen it done. The sheep are scattering because the shepherds are not leading them.

We must have had some punk a** conservative congregation then. ALL the elders here were always going out. I know cuz I thoughtfully got stuck in a car group with them a lot of times. Me being a "spiritual orphan" and all. (Poztate where are ya' I'm so glad you aren't an elder)

I agree that the elders are getting counsel to evangelize but the congregation is being told they are "evangelists".

I was once told that if you did not turn in some time each month preaching (1 hour) that you were not a JW. You could be preaching, but if you did not turn it your time you were not counted as a JW. Of course, you could still be a Christian.

I am fairly confident that if Brooklyn was trying to get the BoE out in service, they would not use a WT article - they would use internal means of communication, both written and oral.

I really doubt that the WTS would want the publishers putting pressure on the elders... seems to undermine the way they usually do things.

If you looked at THAT article, you might get the impression that the elders are being given indirect counsel. I've seen that done many times.

In order to get grant money or funding from the government for the 'work of the ministry'

watchtower has to make sure each person in active in the field regardless of experience with the bible.

WHERE DOES WATCHTOWER GET GOV'T GRANTS AND FUNDING FOR THE MINISTRY??? I don't think so.

In Germany and some other European countries, there is a religious tax collected and paid to the church???? But people can opt out of that if they want to and I can't see the WTS using it.
