Would a letter of DA do a DF'ed guy any good?

Besides the visceral satisfaction of sticking it the man that abused me for so many years - would it help to write a letter of disassociation and send copies to the elders, the Society, and maybe a lawyer?

My reasoning is that as a disfellowshipped person, I am regarded as a sinner - someone who was led astray by weakness and sin. This is true. BUT I think I have also advanced in my spiritual path to the point that I am no longer dependent on the Society's judgements of me. ergo, for my own satisfaction, I'd like my official designation to be changed to DA'd, because I have mentally broken away as well as physically. Plus it would add to my street cred to mess with the elders like this...

Is this flogging a dead horse? Or do I have a valid idea here?

    Answer- YES.

Since you are currently DF'd, in order to get DA'd, you'd have to get re-instated (a godawful 1 year waste of time and meetings) only to then DA yourself.

    It's not worth it.

So saith "Sheperding the Flock", the top-secret JW Elder manual.

Most people here would say to just leave it be because if you truly are free of the WTS & its designations then you shouldn't care whether they list you as DF or DA since it is a moot point. However, if it offers closure then I suggest writing the letter...

DA & DF is the same difference.

Since you are not around to defend yourself, you will be painted in the worse light anyway. I DA and sent my letter for the reasons to all my friends. So they have both sides of the story.....some still call from time to time to see if I want to come back....

I'd write a DA letter and sign it J.R Brown and send it into Bethel.....sounds like a good project for the czarofmischief

That's what I'm aiming for. I want to be feared, hated, despised as a rebel and an apostate. I want to make my differences with their beliefs well known. I want them to tremble at my passage.

Why not call the religion editor of your local daily paper and tell her your JW story? Shunning and names and faces make good stories. Lots of editors will help you warn others of the dangers of the Tower group. Plus, it's a good gottcha . . . .

Hm, Gary, that could be a good way to break in to the writing game as well, eh?

My interview made the front page of the largest daily paper in the state. I didn't write it, and I was not the only one they interviewed. One boy was shunned by his family at 18 for smoking a cigarette. He had to live on the streets. One girl was shunned after the Witnesses told her to throw away her 12 step books and quit going to AA and disfellowshipped her when she got drunk. She almost died from her alcholism. Another was shunned when he quit drinking and went to addiction treatment. One Witness man told of not being allowed to go in service after he showed up at the hall because his suit was too old.

Then we had a public forum and almost 100 people showed up but the elders who were invited by registered mail were not there. Their victims were. The press was there and there was another article. Then the CBS tv station did a news magizine out of my interview with them. Then the weekly paper did a front page article from their interview I gave them.

Here, we do not wait for elders to come to us, we go after them. GaryB
