It is true....There is/was a group of JWs that believed he was the other famous Michael.

There was a newspaper article I photocopied. They centered in Alberta, Canada.

I'm cleaning today, so if I find it I'll post some of it. I think I did once before on this board tho.

Back in the 80's there was a magazine article(Time, Newsweek, can't remember) that had a whole article about Michael, and a following he had of people who viewed him as the Archangel Michael. There was even a picture of WT publications, truth book and some others.

Back in the l970s or maybe the 80s, there was a small group of Xjays who got together to create a little havoc and horseplay with the Watch Tower hen pecker society. One of the more knowledgeable of that group thought he found a loophole regarding the legality of the directors of the Society. So they drew up another list of directors including themselves and named as president Michel Jackson, as dubbed him Michael the Archangel. They planned to fake a takeover effort.

It is also true it originated in Alberta.

I know one of those guys and when I see him I will try and get more accurate details.

I was a young JW when MJ was a witness and none of us thought he was an archangel. But he was cool and damn he could dance. Some inlaws were friends with the Jackson familly, and I don't think they regarded them in some superhuman status at all.

I knew some witnesses who came from the Southern CA area where Jacksons congregation was. They said that he did have a following of JWs who had splintered off--they called themselves Jacksonites. They believed that Michael in the bible was referring to Michael Jackson--that is what I heard anyway...seems like a lot of people in the Southern Calif. area knew about this...but you know how the JW rumour mill goes, so who knows--could be an urban legend.
