Stop! Where are you going?

Something disconcerting I have noticed about most people is how unhappy they allow themselves to become. So many people qualify their enjoyment. "I will be happy WHEN", or IF this happens THEN I will be happy!" They look for something to work out a certain way as a condition of their future happiness. They never live in the here and now! Look! I have goals that I work towards, but that does not stop me from enjoying the moment! You will always have things to do. Your "IN" basket will never be empty! The day you die you will have things planned. They will get done by someone else or not done at all. And you know what? The birds will sing and the Earth will spin whether you are here or not!

So STOP! Enjoy the little things! Look at the sunset, smell the flowers. Drink up the kiss of your lover. Play with your children and pets. Take a breath, a sip of cool water, listen to the crunch of snow under your feet. Take a moment to reflect on what life really is. It is the journey, the trip, the pleasure derived in the little things. It is other people and loving and helping them. It is children...they are children for such a short time. Don't put conditions on your happiness. Don't put it off until....Learn to live, love, and be at peace within yourselves!

Now class dismissed....you may go play! Master, Maverick

Yep, take the time to smell the roses, forget the hate and despair, and instead, love.

    There was a boy...
    A very strange enchanted boy.
They say he wandered very far, very far
    Over land and sea
A little shy and sad of eye
    But very wise was he.

    And then one day,
One magic day he passed my way.
And while we spoke of many things ,
    Fools and kings,
    This he said to me,

"The greatest thing you'll ever learn
Is just to love and be loved in return."

    -Nat King Cole,

    Nature Boy (eden ahbez)

    Cliche works for me....

Don't take yourself too seriously, find the humor in everyday life, and spend all your money...you can't take it with you and why should anyone else get it?!!!

Thats why I look at things realistically. I never tell myself that I'm gonna get happy. I just have spurts of hapinness and then resume into misery mode. One night it may be vicodans night, then the next night it's Remy Red and bacardi, the next night it's valium night, etc.

Life is truly a meaningless nightmare of misery.

James Thomas, I always enjoy your posts - always - but where are your beautiful pictures?? You've stopped including them? They were great. I really miss them

got my forty homey? - I'm so sorry to hear you feel that way. I have no advice, and I know you didn't ask for any. But I would sure love to see you get some good advice that could improve your joy and sense of well being. Did you say once that you have a very bad back or back surgery? I hope that gets better in time - I have heard it can be pretty depressing at times.

Damn you, love-truth, that song makes me cry every f-ing time. It's featured in a great film that emphasizes the point of this thread. Untamed heart. Damn woman's movies!
