When you hear about all those things happening, there is quite a few things you can do:

First of all, I would contact the police in your area and tell them what's happening. The police naturally need to see proof, so even though you may not give them direct proof, you know that there are kids who may have been molested - you can tell the police their names and addresses. Also you tell them to keep your name confidential until such time evidence has been presented. When you call the authorities, then they have to keep this as a record. Secondly, I would also go to some women- or activist groups and tell them the story - these groups are very forceful on these issues and they will certainly dig and search until they find proof. Thirdly, I would contact most of the people in your former congregation (of course you have nothing to lose as you are already d'fd) and tell them what's happening. I would also speak to your children who are still in the clutches of this dangerous satanic cult - get them out of that congregation and in the safety of your own home puternut - your children should NOT be in the vicinity of any child molester and be a possible victim. Do what it takes to get them out and tell everybody (including the press) what's happening. They will be too scared to charge you with official slander, as otherwise they themselves will open a can of worms and shoot themselves in the foot. The more you talk about these issues, the faster public opinion will be sympathetic to you and necessitate positive action to haunt these guys and bring them to justice!

I would do what it takes to expose these pedophiles - do this for the safety of those who are innocent in your area!!!

I know that the JWs are no different from any other religion in Christendom. They are as corrupt as the Catholic Church. At least the Catholic's recognizes it and is addressing the problem for the most part. I am sure though that there still are many problems left to sort out in the church. In the instance of JWS it is appauling to say the least. I agree with Richie all the steps he has outlined are your best route. I am happy you are able to pick up with this good couple after all this time. May it go well with you.

It makes me sick to know you knew and know these so-called brothers, so if it sickens me I can well imagine what it does to you. Especially when these men are to care for the congregation not to exploit and destroy the lifes of people in it.

I hope with all my heart that you blow the whistle on these persons as innocent persons have been hurt badly and more then likely will effect their lives forever. I think that these guys should be castrated and then after they are tortured they should fry in the electric chair. I also hope you get your daughters out of such an enviroment, because it is obvious that this problem is still happening so you will need to protect them from these vultures. Your ex will have to live with your descion. You are only doing what any natural father would do and that is to protect them.

So please keep us updated on this as I really want to see some kind of Justice.

Thanks folks for the posts. One thing was interesting to me about some of what I read. Some of you mentioned that you didn't hear about these things in your congregation, and were wondering if these were isolated indicences. That in itself is proof to you how good the organization is about keeping things under their hat. But I assure you, that there were many cases that were covered up and till todate are being covered up. Some are threatened by the Society, that if you are to talk about it, disciplinary action will be taken place on your behalf.

Many silence themselves until they cannot cope with the pressure any longer.

Makes you angry hey. I know of a case where the husband of good standing beat, starved and locked his wife and children in a cupboard and molested his three children and did all sorts of horrendous things to them. She ended up fleeing and has earnt a bad name and was treated appalingly by every witness because she dared try to expose the truth about such a respected person. He never was reproved, disfellowshipped or anything and she is treated like a lepar whereever she goes, looked upon as a nuter and yet the police and everything were called in and there is so much physical evidence its unbelievable.

This is one case that as I got to know the sister better stumbled me no end. However the sister is stil plugging away in the truth despite everything. She wouldnt even think about leaving the truth. I was stumbled because he got away with it in the laws eyes and the dubs eyes. The more I hear the more I am no longer surprised at the stories I continue to hear!

I think that's horrible about the elders involved in sexual abuse, and I don't doubt that something like that can happen in a group where silence rules... Elders tend to abuse their authority, as we all know, and many tend to be frustrated underachievers in their "real" lives. But I wouldn't assume all elders are that way. And I must disagree with a comment I saw ..."The org stinks from the top all the way down". I'd say the top down to the middle somewhere... the little people aren't too bad unless they are really trying to make something of themselves, unless you count their typically snotty attitudes!

Peternut, my advice to you is don't believe everything you hear.

There's no end to the horror stories, is there?

Creeps me out so much there are no words... but thanks for sharing. As soon as we think MAYBE, JUST MAYBE the WT/JWs will get their act together, more revelations come out.

Richie had great advice, notify police to at least 'get what you know on the record'; women's abuse/advocacy groups, etc.

Ask for the Sex Crimes Unit at the local police station. Those guys are usually on the ball and will give a listening ear to the details and make note of it. (Back in '92 I reported our pedophile uncle to his city's sex crime unit, 35 years after the fact, simply because he's still alive and could still be at his dirty deeds, so at least they know to watch out for him. Better late than never).

Also the suggestion to contact Kim Norris, Esq., good idea as well, as she may have attorneys she is working with in your area, and those atty's may have their own PIs, etc.

Is the couple who told you these things willing to give the stories to the police directly?

And you mentioned contacting silentlambs. Please do share the details you do have with SL/BB. Your profile says you worked with SL before so I assume you have his email/phone/addy, etc., but if not, let me know.
