I spoil my children too,,,,,,,,,like someone said, many women on this board where abused ,in many ways, or just neglected. Being a JW daughter,,,,,,,,,I always felt being a son would have made my father happier . Every meeting they talked about the sons, not the daughters much at all. Later on it seems they tried to add "daughters' to make them feel included......., as they did saying Brothers AND Sisters at the conventions , instead of just Brothers!
I am raising my daughter to be independant, she can marry if she wants, but I will be giving that man the third degree that is for sure.
I read an article in Marie Claire....woman's magazine that always has an article about women in other countries , their lives and hardships.
One story was about women in Afganastan, who were so unhappy , so abused by their husbands, mother in laws,,,,,( they usually all lived in one house) that the young brides would pour kerosene on themselves and light themselves up.
There were soooo many in the hospital for this,,,,,and many of them lived a few days and died. The women did this over minor things, like short circuiting a new tv, motherinlaw telling her the dish wasnt clean enough, being put down for every and anything.
Some are blaming the Western civilazation on the reason these women are having their eyes opened that they should not be treated that way. The article said that they are making satilite dishes out of soda cans to receive more TV channels that show how American women, and in other countries as well, have so much freedom and how they are treated by men.
But things are still the same in their world,,,,even thou it is a crime to beat your wife there, the men are hardly ever prosecuted or it is never reported.
It is sad that these women see how they should not be treated , and they are doing something about it,,,,,,,but it is to themselves. It is really sad that they would rather burned themselves , suffer the excruciating pain if they survive a few days, and then they die. So very young too.
Didnt mean to make this post a downer ,,,,,,,but I am glad that we are treating our daughters like the precious princesses they are.
By doing this , they will not be so sad, so dependant on what others think they should be, they will be able to stand up for themselves without doing the things the women in Afganastan are doing.
More power to all the Dad's out there who are "spoiling" their little angels.....Mom's too,,,,after all we only have them to spoil before they venture out into the world to be independant. I hope that my kids will still be around me when they grow up, but I do want them to see the world, experience it all.
