Firstinline, I don't remember reading anything that Jesus said on homosexuality. Could you point me to where it is? Thanks.

I always catch Larry King when he is on. I love what he says and how he says it. I particularly liked the part about America finally catching on to Bush. I just hope he is right.

I think Bill Maher is right on about George Bush - he says he's a shady character. My sentiments exactly!

Bill Maher is an American entertainer, very well educated, and knowledgable about politics. He had a TV show a couple of years ago called "Politically Incorrect" where he discussed current events with a panel of celebrities and/or politicians. The network booted that show after he said the 9/11 terrorists were not cowards. (he said they had to have a lot of courage to do what they did) He wasn't defending their actions, but the "powers that be" didn't like what he said.

Now he has a show on HBO called "Real Time with Bill Maher" which is similar to the old one, but even better.

Bill is the Politically Incorrect guy who made some shi**ty remaks about the USA after the 9-11 attack and lost his show as a result. I guess he does have an ax to grind.

    Mulan,

Bill not only said that the terrorists were not cowards but he immediately followed that by saying 'we (the US) are the cowards. We are the ones lobbing cruise missiles at the middle east.' I was watching that broadcast. Right or wrong it was incorrect timing at the least. He seemed to like eating his feet because over the next couple of weeks amidst the fallout he managed to defend himself by saying things like:

'Well Im just saying what everyone else is thinking but doesnt have the guts to be the first one to say. I am like the first guy getting of the landing craft on omaha beach in Saving Private Ryan who takes the bullet right in the forehead.'

That is the comment that ended the show. He needed to apologize and say something like given what we have all just been through, my comments were inappropriate, but instead he tried to make himself seem like some kind of martyr.

    alirobbi,

It appears I was mistaken. I recalled Paul's words in Romans and his refference to God made me think of Jesus. I was wrong.

    Hi FIL, you said:

I don't see a problem with that statement either. The USA/UK (most powerful alliance) attacked a defenseless nation. How much courage does that take?

Not that I think suicide bombers are admirable, but Bill Maher was making a valid point, imo.

    Edited to add:

P.S. I just noticed that you said, the problem was the timing. Imo, he was just ahead of the rest of us who did not agree with the current administration's rush to war.

Another religion quote when discussing the movie "The Passion of the Christ": MAHER: "...I think religion is a neurological disorder. And so I think anyone who believes in this stuff is -- you know, it's like -- when you're a kid, anything they drill into your brain. The analogy I make is when I was a kid, they drilled religion into my brain. They also put mercury into my teeth. When I got to be an adult, I found out mercury was bad. I had it drilled out. I would do the same with religion." CPiolo
