It seems to me I've read studies of where a Mother could recognize her child crying out of a room full of babies crying. I'm not sure, but it seemed like the first time that a Mother heard her child cry, she could recognize it fairly consistently afterwards. I know one thing: it would take a WHOLE LOTTA firemen to keep me out of a house where my child was burning to death! I can understand why she kept her son so near, she didn't want to lose him and she didn't want people finding out that they were on the run, plus she didn't want to worry her son.
I do think this is an amazing story. But I also heard another piece of it that wasn't mentioned in this thread so far...
Although she did recognize her child, the evidence does not stop there. The natural mother had the where-with-all to tell the child she had some gum stuck in her hair. To sit still and she was going to cut it out. The cut hair was taken to the authorities for DNA testing, which came out positive as her child.
Thanks for that added information. I was wondering how she managed to get the authorities to believe her. This puts it all together. DNA is something else!!
