Is it me or do United seem to be unravelling lately?
I told my sons last year that even though we'd won the league things didn't look right. City deserved their victory, as Arsenal deserve to win the league, but to write United off already is foolish, as has been found so many times previously.
Yes, it's possible United might not win anything this season - but, and I'm being honest here, I should hate for any one team to completely dominate the Premiership like Rangers or Celtic up North, and that includes United. No team has a divine right to win anything. Fergie has been a wonderful manager for us, but of late his signings, Ronaldinho excepted, have a lot to prove. Losing Ferdinand in defence was a massive blow - but he was an idiot (though the punishment is way out of order considering what happened to other players who were definitely found to have tested positive!).
One thing's for sure, you write United off at your peril. There are a lot of good young players at the club waiting to burst onto the scene. United need to drop a number of the old regulars and allow these to come through - but Ferguson already knows that! It's an old cliche, but we really will have to wait for next season - although there's still a little matter of the FA Cup to consider (just hope Arsenal have a bad day!).
One other thing, if a classy player has a choice between coming to rain-soaked Manchester or sunny Barcelona, Madrid or Milan and with the lifestyles these clubs offer, we all know where they'd prefer.
