Mouthy, apparently you are not a horticulturist..! The hothouse anology of Blondie's about a forced bulb went over your head! From another source; " An easy victory is rarely longlasting"! Think about it. Just like each one of us has a different reaction to a particular pain remedy, each of us has to decide what is more valuable, our social and materlal needs (ie family and other economic circumstances) or the ephimeral "taking a stand for God" (ie Get our of her). Me thinks those who are want to maintain their family should be encouraged and supported, while those that throw caution to the wind (yours truely) are free to do so and deserve credit as well. There is no wrong way to leave the mafia, unless you resort to violence or illegal practices which lowers you to the level of the FDS,

My main aim is at those in higher positions within the organisation.

I agree Dansk. Most witnesses realise there are faults with the organisation, but all the things that sparked their intrest ...still does. They alone are neautral, they alone realise holidays are pagan, they alone magnify Gods name, they alone preach the bibles message.

These things keep them "in" despite the faults they see. "There is no place that has the truth accept the Kingdom Hall".....so why stand up to them?

Those in reponsible positions who effect the lifes of others however.........should be shot execution style as far as I'm concerned. I mean that! Those men who KNOW they promote and teach lies just to save face, protect themselves, or to protect the Organisation, should be blasted. Hopefully they will just die soon, and their virus won't spread to the new generation of dictators.

Mouthy, apparently you are not a horticulturist Thats right Carmel,I am not ... I really do support those who decide to "keep the cover" In our support group we have many!!!!But I feel guilt is a distructive emotion. Many of them that come have to "pretend" they are somewhere else rather than here at my home...They have to lie. Then follows guilt- then follows fear, ( that the "INS" will find out. I was kicked out. !! So I didnt have to decide weather to hide or not!!! I really do sympathise with you folks who have to keep under cover. BUT I feel once you have "stood up & been counted" it gets rid of the guilt. Freedom usally does mean a loss of something...Be it religion, country, addiction, exspouses, whatever. !!!! Sorry if I upset others with my opinions. But I will express them come what may.......

Even if the average JW sees a few errors in the organization, probably they will say, "where else can we go"?

They learned that they need an organization in order to adore God. If that wasn't the case, many more would leave.

I think it is easier on some of us to just never go back after being DFed. You are right about the fear and guilt of the faders but hey we had our share of shame and guilt and fear.

The reality is that there is no easy way to leave a cult. If people could just walk away from the WTS and not be shunned then I think a lot more would go elsewhere to find their spiritual comfort. If people knew they could easily refuse to do this preaching work they without having an elder atfer them to hand in their time I doubt too many would be out knocking on doors.

This is an org that controls people's lives through fear, lies, intimidation, manipulation, guilt etc. It isn't easy to walk away. Just look at the pains it takes some people to get free.

Shame on those in charge who KNOW and stay and perpetuate these controls on others. I remember how uninformed I was before I left. I knew nothing about the hisory or the problems. I truly thought my unhappiness was a defect in me not in the religion.

My hope is those innocents are the ones who find out the real truth and become free. They are the ones who really need our support the most.

    Dansk,

There are many inside that couldn't care any less about the WTBTS, its policies and even Jehovah for that fact.

Many of us are what's known as "Social Witnesses"; you know, just for the social association within and whatever fun found within.

To illustrate I think the problem is if you were a Nazi reading Hitlers Mein Kamp you would feel very good about being a Nazi..And the same is true when you read a Watchtower Publication (Take Revelation its Grand Climax at Hand) ..as a witness you feel very good about yourself .The whole book is Praising Jehovers Witnesses The Organisation and as a Consequence You for being a part of it..... God is really out the picture.

I have heard that statement countless times around here

It is because they have never been to another church and are so full of brainwashing they really believe there is no where else to go

Some people are afraid of loosing there families I think thats the main reason they go along with everything

Ian, Your post was well presented and may be the swat-upside-the-head some JW lurkers need. That said, I feel that most who know better but remain in are motivated by one factor: fear. Not everyone is ready to have their rug pulled out from under them. Many have nothing but the Org., and have no clue as to where else to turn (as has already been stated in this thread). They have traded this life for hopes of a future life in paradise, and to actually leave the Witnesses is to admit total and hopeless defeat. Better (they think) to stick their head up their ass and go on, than face what they perceive as bottomless humiliation, confusion and futility. These people are afraid, and my heart goes out to them. But that does not mean that what you said Ian, did not need to be said. They are victims. Even those in "higher positions" know of nowhere to turn. I feel that everyone does their best within their state of ignorance. j

Dansk, I just read your thread. I don't like your attacking style. I believe you mean well, but I'm embarrassed by how you talk down to JWs, even if they should know better. You should think about re-wording your original comments-----if you do really care about Witnesses.
