Doesn't look like anything new. The problem for Americans that believe Bush "lied", is, who do they vote for? Kerry claimed all the same things about Iraq and Saddam before the war, so he also "lied". I guess there's always Nader.

    Simon,

I've read it, and I also noticed that SLH has decided to call these "lies"...The document calls them "misleading statements" in actuality the statements were based on the best available intelligence at the time. George Tenet should have been fired long ago.

    SLH,

I lie involves knowing the "truth" and either witholding that information...or INTENTIONALLY giving information KNOWN to be false....which is Not proven by this document...ahhh...politically motivated hind site...and the facts remain to be discovered yet.

At least when Saddam was in power he had order in his country, LOL! Wow, things suuure are better now ain't they paw?
That's easy to do when you murder your political opposition...by about 10,000 a year.

I read some of it, and i saw several cases where bush et al knew better, yet chose to say what was not true.

Is there proof for that figure? Although it's hard to prove, china may be executing the same number of people every yr.

What do you call the 300,000+ bodies that have been uncovered in mass graves all over Iraq-suicides??????????

    Mass graves.

Yeah, China DOES execute the most people - but to be fair, they have so many of them that nobody will miss 10thousand or so. I can't even imagine the complexity of ruling a nation of 1.6 billion people...

For Saddam to take a nation with 23 million people and execute 10k a year... well, it'd be like the mayor of New York executing 10,000 people a year.

I think what the US is doing is unconstitutional . Iraq was not an immediate threat to the republic I think our government is more in danger of being baught than over thrown . The Iraqies showed no aggression they merely believed they were a sovereign nation and trying to do what every sovereign nation does by arming itself . Yes the US government lied but the biggest lie was to insist it is the reponsibility of the american people to secure regions of the world that are turmultuous. It's like the holy roman empire all over again . We have a guy who thinks God is directing his ever move and those kind of people are very dangerous in the political scene . We have so many problems at home with corporate corruption and poverty I think it's pointless to say you can make the world a better place when your own house is a mess.

People who think bush was okay in invading Iraq are not going to listen to arguments.

Add the word 'not' between was and okay in the above sentence and you get another true statement.

I'm so sick of people on both sides of this issue claiming that they have the 'truth' the other side won't accept. No one's cornered the market on 'right' on this issue. The tiresome rhetoric and inflammatory assertions of 'fact' are pretty much even.

Here is one example from page 23:

The five officials also drew selectively from individual intelligence sources. In 1995, Hussein Kamel, the Iraqi official who had been in charge of Iraq?s weapons of mass destruction programs, defected and described how Iraq had violated U.N. resolutions in the early 1990s.67 Administration officials cited these claims repeatedly. For example, President Bush said:

In 1995, after several years of deceit by the Iraqi regime, the head of Iraq?s military industries defected. It was then that the regime was forced to admit that it had produced more than 30,000 liters of anthrax and other deadly biological agents. . . . This is a massive stockpile of biological weapons that has never been accounted for, and capable of killing millions.68

President Bush failed to disclose, however, that this same defector reported to U.N. inspectors that Iraq had destroyed all of its chemical and biological weapons stocks.69
