Never happened,sorry.
I go into an upscale restaurant a bunch of JW's start shouting insults
I'm still reeling from hearing that they went to an upscale restaurant.
Did someone give them a gift certificate or something?

That is really strange behaviour. Most JW's I know are pretty passive and try to avoid confrontation especially with someone they consider to be an "apostate". In this country anyway, most JW's would ignore you or run away like you had the plague.

I don't know how it's been for everyone else but with me (been "officially da'd about 3-1/2 years) it's changed as time goes by. I live in a small, rural town so I regularly bump into JW's at the store, gas station, etc. At first, I'd go out of my way to say "hi" and "get into their face." Not sure what I hoped to accomplish, maybe just some satisfaction that I made them feel uncomfortable. Looking back, I was probably being a bully. Then it kind of went the opposite way, I'd do anything just to avoid them. I think I was trying to bury any reminders of my JW past. Now for the past year I've pretty come to terms with my JW past and am nice to any JWs I meet. I "respect" their right to not talk with me (gag!) but I'll make eye contact and if they seem nice, I'll say hello. A few have even said hello back. But I can't ever imagine a JW shouting insults at me. There's no way I could handle that without doing something. I'd make a very poor follower of Gandi.

LOL Winston! That was a great Leno-esque joke.
It is hard to imagine people shouting in an upscale restaurant, actually! But then, I've never been to NY, and so I don't know what people think is "normal" behavior over there. At any rate, you could ask a waiter to call the police to complain about harassing... or even the restaurant manager. They would surely remove such kinds of customers if they will not be quiet.
Perhaps, when you make a reservation, let them know that you have had people hassle you there before, and you would like to let the management know you expect them to intervene if that happens again.

That's crazy! Have you considered threatening to call the cops on them for harassment?
Never threaten unless you plan on going through with it. First, ask for the manager and explain how the staff is making you uncomfortable. Can the other customers hear this? I'm sure he doesn't want them to get the wrong impression.
I haven't had any problems, yet.
Try talking to the manager, topanga.

I'll give you a call next time I'm in new york. We'll go out to eat. It'll be a blast, nudge nudge, wink wink.

Oh I can only wish.
They're too busy running in the opposite direction, looking for the rock they crawled out from.

I would contact the elders. They don't have a right to do this and if this were to take place in my old area, the elders would apologize and take care of it..........the simplest way is usually the best way. Yes, I know, no threats no repurcussions, just the simple way.

This sort of thing happens to me all the time. I've started wearing protective clothing and earplugs. I'm just about at my wits end (pardon the pun). I've thought about killin' a few of 'em, just to send a message; "hey, you guys can't piss on me like that. no really", but here in Tejas, the law don't look too kindly on killin' J Hoover Witpisses, sumthin' about religious freedom and all. I feel like the gubment and religion have both failed me.
