Well what ever. You get my drift.
Love ya

ok well scroll down and give me your honest opinion val
Ah, yes... earthling man: say something "maligning," and he takes offense. Say something from love... and he takes offense. But one should be surprised, for so it goes with the "playmates" of the "young children", yes?
Matthew 11:16, 17; 23:37-39
I bid YOU... peace.
Your servant... and a slave... purely by choice... of Christ,
"Good-for-Nothing" SJ (who wonders at the "offense" some took at my words, which had absolutely NO malice or animosity in them or behind them, whatsoever. Not in the least. Ah, well, there is the very wise description regarding those who "hurry" themselves to take offense...)
Thanks, AGuest, for this thread and for your detailed reply to my comment in Celtic's original thread, which I copied and saved your reply from that one so I can go over it a few times before replying, mucho thanks for taking the time to reply, and for all the scriptural references, too.
Not sure why the mischevious have to always make smart remarks about any thread of a spiritual nature. I don't get it really. As I've said from the beginning of signing up here, it's a great place to read about everything JW/WT-related, but it sure isn't a 'safe place' to discuss spiritual matters (and I don't mean spiritual matters as they relate solely to the WT, but as they relate to anyone seeking God/Jesus/Holy Spirit/Understanding Prophecies and wanting to sincerely discuss these things, learn more, etc.)
I'm surprised at Celtic's response to you in lieu of the pleading title of his last thread: Please!! Who is there to teach me the ways of Christ Jesus? I would think a person who sounded that sincere and earnest would appreciate all replies. I cannot answer for AGuest, never met her, but Celtic asked WHO ARE YOU? (lol, or something to that effect). I get the feeling AGuest is someone who has a heap more Holy Spirit than the rest of us, and I certainly don't take 'offense' to that but feel whatever she writes is like a breath of fresh air around here. I hope to someday feel like I know Jesus and the Father just as well.
BTW, AGuest, while reading your reply to me in the other thread, this scripture came to mind with a whole new meaning... I think it's in Hebrews...
"The WORD OF GOD is ALIVE and EXERTS POWER and is sharper than a two-edged sword, and pierces even to the bone and its marrow and is able to discern the thoughts and intentions of the heart."
BONG! Wow. I always thought that applied to the WRITTEN WORD, of course as, it is true, when reading certain scriptures they can surely 'pierce' the heart (in good ways, and painful ways, depending). But now I'm thinking that scripture is talking, not about the Bible/written word, but about Jesus being the WORD of GOD who is ALIVE and EXERTS POWER! Neat! Whattaya say? ;-)
Thanks again and fear not the naysayers! Keep up the good words!
GRITS (who has earlier tonight requested Simon to please change my user name as I never liked GRITS to start with).
Also, AGuest, is the translation of JAHESHUA MISCHAJAH = "Jesus the Messiah"? I keep meaning to ask that. Specifically, what does MISCHAJAH mean (I understand the JAH part but not the first part).
Many thanks!
Grits until further notice...
Hi again, AGuest... curious as to your opinions on a few things...
I left the WT in 1990 but was 'under their spell' (of fear and damnation) many more years thereafter, until late 2001-early 2002 when I started reading here and other places on the net about the WT/JWs. Whew! What a relief! I also began watching "Christian TV" first in 1998, then felt 'guilty' (still under WT's spell) so would quit, then go back to it, then quit, etc. until, as stated above, the 'light' came on re: the entire WT org. Being homebound, I watch A LOT of Christian TV and hear many great scriiptural lectures (contrary to what the WT teaches, other 'religions' really DO use their Bibles! Ha!) I've also learned a whole new way of looking at things from hearing what the rest of the "worldly" christians think about God/Jesus/Bible/Prophecies, etc.
One of the neatest things I've learned is that that scripture (in Corinthians/Paul) about all the 'gifts' no longer being active in modern times is 'phooey' to many of these other "christians"' and I'd, personally, like to believe it as well, ie:
Fasting is still a good thing...
Speaking in Tongues is still a wonderful thing...(just heard a great lecture about this Sat. morn)
Being 'healed' still does happen...
Prophesying is still happening, too.
Some are even being raised from the dead (mostly in Africa and such places where spiritism runs rampant and, as one pastor from there said, the only way people there will believe, is if there is a 'power' (God/Jesus) who works miracles beyond those of their spiritistic leaders. Made sense to me).
I'm inclined to believe since Jesus IS still ALIVE and head of his 'body,' that he very well can and does bestow such 'gifts' on whomever he pleases and at any time in history that he so pleases.
One of the happiest times in my life, while still a JW, was during the years I took up water fasting for health reasons even though the WT poo-poo'd it for ANY reason, physical or spiritual. Someday I hope to work up the 'discipline' to do it again. It's a great feeling to 'get cleaned' inside and out, and being so 'cleaned out,' it just makes you feel nothing but love for everybody! That is what I remember the most about it, besides it helping the figure! ;-)
Ah ha! Somebody across the pond woke up and changed my user name! Thank you!
As I said earlier, I never did like the name GRITS (too hokey dokey), but couldn't think of what to change it to, until 2 days ago when I heard a 'preacher' talking about God and getting to know him better. He said GOD means "self-sufficient one" and if we call God "God," then we are basically saying, "You need no one, and don't really have much interest in little ol' me." (I'm paraphrasing, of course). Then he countered that with, "But if we call out to him as FATHER, then God's ears perk up in our direction, because if we know him as a FATHER, and he being our FATHER, then he has a RESPONSIBILITY toward us and our well-being, etc."
Since I've never been that close or felt that 'safe' with my earthly father, I've always had a problem with the Father business (trusting, relying, knowing he will take care of me, etc.) Growing up 1 of 8 kids, my father would say things like, "DON'T ASK US FOR ANYTHING!" - "Don't ask us to give you rides anywhere," - "Get your own car!" - "Pay rent" (while only in 10th grade), etc. I was 'terrified' and learned never to ask for anything or 'bother' anybody, as the load on them was too much anyway, with so many kids.
So, back to the preacher's little bit of info... It was just a little bit that he said, but I really liked it, and will use all these little things I hear and learn to try harder to 'trust' our heavenly Father and let him become 'real' to me if I can get over the 'fear factor'... trying trying! :-/ (In WT days, it was easier just to Do Do Do Do rather than face the fact I actually had some 'fear' about letting our Father get too close).
Anyway, that's how I came upon my new name, which is really Gail anyway, and I always liked the story of Abigail in scripture, but like even more thinking of God as my Abba Father.
So that's that!
I am now AbbaGail ;-)

Galatians 4:6
Because you are sons, God sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, the Spirit who calls out, "Abba, Father."
Romans 8:15
For you did not receive a spirit that makes you a slave again to fear, but you received the Spirit of sonship.[or adoption] And by him we cry, "Abba, Father."
Mark 14:36
"Abba, Father," he said, "everything is possible for you. Take this cup from me. Yet not what I will, but what you will."
[Abba, Aramaic for Father]
Some are even being raised from the dead (mostly in Africa and such places where spiritism runs rampant and, as one pastor from there said, the only way people there will believe, is if there is a 'power' (God/Jesus) who works miracles beyond those of their spiritistic leaders. Made sense to me).
There would be thousands (millions?) more believers here in the West as well if miracles happened. And we're not talking about Benny Hinn "healing" someone's disease or some poor church making its mortgage payment at the last minute. We're talking about real, undeniable, supernatural events that are beyond any doubt, like the ones that supposedly happened in centuries past.
Surely the sovereign of the universe could conjure up something. We are supposedly created in his image, and part of our makeup is the ability to reason and, if necessary, doubt. It's only fair to expect irrefutable proof before signing over our current beliefs and feelings.
SJ you said:

No offense taken here. You must realize of course that many here are very turned off by biblical quotation, as they associate it with jwism and TV evangelacists.
