    Gary,

Thanks for all those improbables. And don't I remember there's no archeological evidence of such a huge group moving thru that area? They would have had to left a lot of residue and artifacts if I remember the rationale correctly.

Hi Pat, Some of the Jewish historians authors I read indicate that all the stories before King David probably were made up and the Hebrew people actually just came out of the Canaanite population. Nothing changes in their lives if the stories of talking snakes, naked women, global floods, and marching masses were real or parables. Actually . . . . nothing changes in my life if they are myths or real either.

The value of the stories is reduced if the reality of the stories is important because some person's bad behavior relies on that text for it's justification or if a fragment of the story is used to prove a conspiracy theory or an apocalypse theory for required belief to avoid rejection. In literature, the value of the story is the story itself, not what it means or what can be proved by it's parts. The Jewish people I have known understand this. They are so wise and prudent and honest, I am proud to know them.

The Witness people I know were the reason I quit associating with their group, not because of the Publishing Corporation. They were rude, inconsiderate, and dogmatic. They gossiped, they were judgmental, they were unethical, and they were dishonest. They flipped, they spun, they were condescending, self righteous, and abusive. They made it very easy for me to want to quit associating. GaryB

I notice that they they sound like the real life equivalents of the hypothetical "Brothers" and "Sisters" the publishing corporation tries to crucify every issue. I am begining to see there is a large gulf between the Watchtower and the Jehoavah's Witnesses. I wonder if they will ever part ways in public instead of just on paper.

Gary, I just read this - what a good laugh I got out of this one! You are the bomb - thanks for the good information.

Also, from your later post on the same thread:

So true of most of the association I had among Jehovah's Witnesses too - some didn't seem this way, of course, but generally, that describes them, especially the elders and the women. Not so much the male rank and file.

didn't mr. personality, apostle Paul, say that "all scripture must be descerned spiritually"? seems the manna issue is taken as literal food whereas it is likely that it was divine guidance that the Jews were tired of adhering to... wanting a more "liberal" message perhaps??

Wow! with so many mouths to feed, and it being such an impossible task....its no wonder that Jahweh took every opportunity to slaughter them at every excuse!

    SS:
Ok, ya may have a point with Matt.21 (the others don't count because they were by proxy, hence he wasn't addressing priests directly with anything naughty).
However, in that passage he used parables, and it was only when they worked it out that they realised he was talking about them. He tricked them into condemning themselves, rather than attacking them directly.
Either way, their evidence for capital punishment wouldn't stand up in court

Sounds like a case of selective quoting, out of context by the way, in order to present what is supposed to be a contradiction.

    Thank you,

    XQsThaiPoes,

The image associated with your name looks like a logo used for the order of the White Shrine of Jerusalem. I was wondering if there was any connection?

    Thank you,
