What is Your purpose/point for being here?

  (So that you know I am still a witness though I haven't been to meetings in a year.)

  Don't you find it disconcerting that you can't talk about things that really bother you at the KH or JW boards and have to come here to be open?

  Why can't I ask at the Hall about 587 v 607 ?

  Or why Jehovah told Bro. Rutherford to tell the friends that 1925 was going to bring the ressurection of the faithful?

  Why did Jehovah tell the society to get us convinced that 1975 was the year/

  Why did Jehovah tell the brother to write that the undeniable facts were that Jesus had come in 1874?

  That's why I'm here, because they won't let me be there and ask these questions never the less answer them.

  For social reasons, mainly.
  It's nice to discuss things with a group who broadly know where you are coming from.

  I also feel a desire to put something back for all the help I was given, and probably to asuage some of the guilt for having been an Elder.
  If I can help someone along the way of life, it makes my day.

  In addition, on that subject, there aren't all that many who have retained "faith", and far less Christian faith.
  Since I have (even through all the endless questioning and reexamination that I continuously subject myself, and am subjected, to), I like to be able to offer at least some hope to those who feel hopelessly confused.

  Personally, and all joking aside, although I am usually sardonic with a pinch of humor and controlled anger, I come here to listen to the viewpoints of those who have also come through the fire. I come here to exchange ideas and experiences and vent and smile and laugh and cry. I am allowed to do here what my JW upbringing would never allow me to do. I was told to look around at the congregation and view the men of spirit. All I saw were men of straw with no empathy and depth of understanding. No real spirit of love and kindness.

  You have all become so dear to me and my wish is to meet each and every one of you in person, to share a hug, a cup of coffee and a joke. I love you all and thank you for being here.

  I'm here for many reasons, one of which is that I have a major crush on LittleToe (he is HOT in his kilt) and now after years of torturous pining I've gone and developed a crush on Shotgun (WHAT a MAN!) Then to top it all off, when I was reading Farkel's post this morning I suddenly felt that familiar stirring of a feeling for him (he's so intelligent and witty....)

  I just hope that my fiance can understand all this....

  Hi Scoobydo, in the begining it was curiosity and ideas, now it's ideas. I'm an inventor, I have three patent inventions and others I didn't bother to patent. I create and build. When I read posts, I search for certain things that people say, and if I'm interested, I'll PM them. Through listening and reading I've also invented a word game.

  Enough said.

  Years ago I was hooked on these x-jw boards - They truly served a purpose. But now I'm here basically out of boredom. I started a new job about a month ago and the work is slow. When I get busy again I won't have any time to contribute.

  Since I've been back, I've notice that 'nothing is new under the sun' regarding the topics. However, the personal experiences are always a good read. Also, I noticed more new participates, is this fulfilling some bible prophecy :) In any event, keep on writing b/c everyone has something to contribute.

  It's comfy here, I don't really know why. And since my family situation right now has me doing the slow-fade thing (see, there's even a lingo to pick up!), I'm constantly exposed to things that really bug me and I can at least talk openly about them someplace. My non-JoeWit friends can't begin to understand! And there's a lot of people out here who have some really good ideas and thoughts that I would never have come up with myself.
