First question: Why are JW's ridiculed so much?

Actually they're not ridiculed as much as other religions. If you look at the pages of the WT, there is much ridiculing of religions other than JWs throughout.
And as for persecution and the tie in to being God's chosen, I think the Jewish people have had way more persecution. But then it makes sense, since the Bible is 'their' story.
As for doing my own thinking, yes I am. But from the sound of your post, you're not. It's a shame, really.

I'm glad you brought up the Jewish because that was going to be my next post. However I typed all this stuff about them and I got an error message. So I'll make this short. Could it be that the Jewish people are the chosen people?

Apparently, I've given the false impression that I give a f*&$k? My bad. My skin is a tad bit thicker than worrying about words being typed on screen. My opinions are just that. Embeciles need not respond only the intelligent. Thank you.

yes, Jehovah's Witnesses are NOT the most ridiculed. I like to think of them as the Fred Dursts of religion. No one REALLY hates Fred Durst. The only thing they hate him for is complaining that everyone hates him when no one really does. JWs make up alot of their so-called ridicule.
p.s. I am of Jewish descent, an NO I do not think they are the chosen people. There are too many people nowadays for there to be ONE chosen person

As you edited your message after several people replied, I now feel obligated to reply in more detail:
Do you ever wonder why JW's are the most ridiculed? They are made fun of more than any other religion.
I disagree. As I said before, they're made fun of to the extent that they're known, and that they appear ridiculous. Hare Krishnas, Scientolgists, Moonies and Mormons are ridiculed in varying degrees for similar reasons.
It makes me think about Jesus and how he was persecuted and ridiculed for being righteous.
There's a big difference between persecustion and ridicule.
If we are living in a kingdom ruled by evil, (Satan) which judging by the events that occur in our lifetime, wouldn't it make sense that anyone who tries to do right would suffer? And those that "go with the flow" so to speak would APPEAR to be in a better position and enjoying the "fruits" of this world?
It makes sense to you because that's what JWs taught you. It's one of their fundamental tenets that they will be persecuted and ridiculed and that this proves they have the truth. As they have such a vested interest in this treatment, perhaps they invite it.
It's so much easier to accept the world and not go against society, don't you agree? Remember how hard it was not to sing The Pledge of Allegiance, make a Valentine's Card in class, eat Christmas cookies, smoke, drink, curse, and have great sex, like the rest of your "outgoing" friends were doing growing up? For those that managed to stay within the guidelines and teachings of JW's for so long, it took guts to be different.
Yes it did. It takes guts for Mormons not to drink coffee, or for Sikhs to wear turbans or for anyone of any minority to go against the grain. Doesn't make it worthwhile or true.
Yet, when the opportunity to become "free" was given we took it so as to escape the ridicule and the stiffling drawbacks of being a "righteous God-fearing" Christian.
Speak for yourself. I left because I had determined their belief system to be untrue.
But you know what I think about? We complained about being left out, or feeling isolated because we abided by our parents and remained true to our FAITH. WHOOPTIE DOO! How many of us would have the guts and the FAITH to withstand a crucifixion such as Jesus did? I know I would've been just as much of a coward as Peter was because my faith isn't that strong.
The problem most people have is that it was all pointless. We missed out on all the little things that make life fun,. and for what? Because some publishing company told us to. I have no problem standing out and appearing ridiculous for principles I believe to be worthwhile.
But back to my original point (lol) There has to be something to reason that JW's are ridiculed so much. There also has to be a reason why people who are exposed to the religion are so affected by it that they need outlets to discuss it (like on message boards and there' s a constant debate over what is right, real, wrong, and fictitious.
The reason is that it's a cult and it messes people up. It divides families and it destroys lives. Most people who have had contact with members of the religion can see this, and this is the reason for their opposition.

could it be it doesn't matter? 2bad...you got off to a good start, but I have to admit you seem more interested in mining responses from us then telling us more about you, your experiences, or anything of interest for that matter. It doesn't make a good impression and leads people to start in on you. Who wants that? The fact you still find some JW stuff to be "true" is fine, but here that is strictly a matter of opinion and you would do well keep that in mind when you start a post. Have a good day and I hope you choose to stick around and make a positive contribution to the board.
Sincerely,

Hi 2good.
Maybe Jehovah's Witnesses are ridiculed because of what they do. In the early days of the Society's history, they used to annoy just about everybody. Rutherford used to get his converts to blast out anti-clergy propaganda on peoples doorsteps. They also used to berate all forms of Capitalism, angering big business like never before. On top of all this, they drag people out of bed and call on them in all hours.

They act like idiots and they go out of their way to act like idiots, that's why.
