If you were still in the JW religion and wanted out, and an opportunity was presented to you to leave everything behind and escape your JW life, would you have taken it?

When I was 15, my brother had mentioned that I could come and live with him at age 16 if I wanted to, away from the JW religion, away from my parents. I was seriously considering it, but it never happened. I guess it's one of those things that I would like to go back and change. Two extra years in my teens would have been nice.

Yes! Knowing what I know now, if I could go back in time, I would have created my own opportunity to get out asap, never would have been baptised.... and the list goes on.

I should have, but like so many others here I did not. However, I've come to understand myself. I was addicted to being right. As soon as I got out of denial about that, the coast was clear and I scooted.

My brother tried to show me things back in 1978 and I threw him out of my home. He tried again in '79 and I cut him off forever..............at least until I came to my senses, in '95. What a lot of years for a brother and sister to lose.

Fortunately when I did call him in '95, he knew by my voice why I was calling and we've never looked back. He said it's a shame we lost the time, but let's not cry over it.

So............when you are ready, you see it..............if it is presented before you're ready, you "kill" the messenger.

I've come to understand myself. I was addicted to being right.
You too? I've always had that issue...........but getting over it big time, now.

Really, though, our being so 'right' all the time was always dependent on what the WTS told us was right,

    And it constantly changed!!

I know I'm right on this!!!

    Cheers, Ozzie
