So, to go Gumby's worthy topic:

from what I've seen, exDubs may be more critical of authority but "know more about the bible/god history than others"? I don't think so.

Quite the opposite really. Again a throwback to being a dub, I think. Dubs were always led to believe that noone knew the Bible like them. "Even the weakest publisher knows more than any householder."

But it's just propaganda, it's hype i.e. it ain't true!! (Note Avishai, I've used "ain't" again!!)

The Dubs master certain texts from the Bible, especially OT topics, but not the Bible as a whole. And that's the trouble for them - they can't stick to a passage of scripture without wanting to fly off to a miilion other texts. It's known as "out of context." And that's the root of dub belief - scattered texts out of context.

So, I'm not convinced that ex-dubs are any more knowledgeable of the Bible than others, probably less so.

I stated in my opening line.."a critical" examination of the bible. I was speaking of looking at the bible from the critics viewpoint, by reading literature that is negative to the idea that the bible is gods word. I guess you thought I meant ex-dubs do a deep study of the bible itself. Sorry bout that mate

No....ex-dubs are certainly no better bible scholars. Perhaps in 'doctrine'.....those who become christian after exiting the dubs are better than the average joe....I don't know. It would seem an ex-dub christian would be highly concerned of doctrine because of what they learned as dubs concerning christendoms FALSE doctrines(according to dubs) and might be more enlightened.

I suppose I should clarify this and edit the thread meaning.......but it's a little late

For what it is worth, I know FAR more about the Bible now than I did as a pioneer, MS and yer basic born-in-da-truth dub. We only knew about 15-25 verses tops!

Due to this knowledge, I've concluded that the Bible is the biggest pile of crap since the last Watchtower was printed and released. Morever, it will still be the biggest pile of crap after the NEXT Watchtower is printed and released. When a printing company bases its crap on other crap, the only result is crap. When a printing company like the WTS chooses NOT to base its latest crap on Bible crap, but rather on newly made-up crap of its own, it is still crap.

We have a book full of crap, and we have a religion full of crap from that book full of crap, but with the unique distinction that it makes up its own crap, too.

So, with all this crap, what do you end up with? (hint: the answer is in the question.)
