On one side he feels that he is of a privileged class to be a part of such a momentous event. However, the event causes such pain because no matter how much he does - he is not doing enough.

I have been to enough of these special elder meetings to know that they are long and oh so boring.

Elders schools is another opportunity to indoctrinate those who will indoctrinate others. You also throw another "special privilege" their way in having this school.

Well, on the bright side it's so much faster and far less expensive than going to a bona fide theological seminary. It saves so much time to just read what the Watchtower says instead of having to slog through that big, boring Bible!

It is just another chance for the "boys club" mentality to be built on! ("we're special, we're elders etc)

AND, then the congs will get a flurry of overrighteous elders coming back ready to try and implement everything they have just learned...expect more judgement and F.O.G to be piled on the congs!

Why is it so great? The last one that I went to I learned in an eight hour day one thing and I heard it about a cadzillion times: "Call the legal department". Where else can you get such "spiritual" insight and direction.

I heard that the elder school is 1-2 weeks at the compound in NY, is this true?

I was removed as an elder Xmas 2006 (best gift ever), and left the cult Summer 2007 (best summer vacation ever, no door knocking in 100F heat.

However, I DID attend the 8-week abomination MTS (Ministerial Training School) as a single (and recently appointed) elder. Mine was held in St. Louis, MO. What a joke. The hypocricy of the behavior of some if those so-called "spiritual" men. And NO support, financially or organizationally once you got to your assignment. Whoever is going to these elder schools, if it is held in Walkill or Patterson, try to get outside and enjoy the beauty of nature, Upstate NY is truly beautiful, marred only by the JW Resort and Indoctrination Center.
