Subject: Fw: All diet soda drinkers beware

    -----
This is very interesting and I believe there is something in these sweeteners.

    PLEASE READ
Subject: All diet soda drinkers beware

Have you seen this? I received this from a friend at USC.

    Another warning about ASPARTAME

This really makes me wonder about some of my aches and pains.

Last October a friend started getting very sick, she had stomach spasms,
she was having a hard time getting around, to walk was a major chore. It
took everything she had just to get out of bed she was in so much pain.
By March 2002, she had undergone biopsies and was on 24 various
    prescription medications.

The doctors could not figure out what was wrong with her. She was
in so much pain, and so sick, she knew she was dying. She put her house,
bank accounts, life insurance etc... in her oldest daughter's name, and
made sure her younger children were to be with her oldest daughter.

She wanted her last hooray, so she planned a trip to FL (basically
in a wheelchair) for March 22nd. On March 19th, I called her to ask her
how one of her tests went, and she said they didn't find anything on the
test, but they believe she had MS. I thought, oh my....then I recal! ! led
an article another friend of mine emailed to me.

I asked her, "Do you drink Diet pop?" She told me "yes " As a matter
of fact she was getting ready to pop one open that very moment.
I told her not to open it, and to stop drinking all diet sodas; and I
    emailed her the following article.

She called me within 32 hours after our phone conversation and told me
she stopped drinking the diet pop, and she can walk. She went up the
stairs, and the muscle spasms went away.

She said she didn't feel 100% but sure felt a lot better. She told me
she was going to her doctors with this article and would call me back
when she returned home. She called me, and her doctor was amazed, he is
going to call all of his MS patients to find out if they consumed
    artificial sweetener.

    subject.

I will explain why Aspartame is so dangerous. When the temperature of
this sweetener exceeds 86 degrees F, the wood alcohol in ASPARTAME
converts to Formaldehyde and then to formic acid, which in turn causes
metabolic acidosis. (Formic acid is the poison found in the sting of
fire ants.) The methanol toxicity mimics, among other conditions, multiple
sclerosis. People were being diagnosed with having multiple sclerosis in
error. The multiple sclerosis is not a death sentence, where as methanol
    toxicity is!

Systemic lupus has become almost as rampant as multiple sclerosis,
especially with Diet Coke and Diet Pepsi drinkers. The victim usually
does not know that the Aspartame is the culprit. He or she continues its
use, aggravating the lupus to such a degree that it may become
life-threatening. W! ! e have seen patients with systemic lupus become
asymptomatic once taken off diet sodas.

In the case of those diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis, (when in
reality, the disease is methanol toxicity), most of the symptoms
disappear. We've seen many cases where vision returned and hearing
improved markedly. This also applies to cases of tinnitus.

During a lecture I said "If you are using ASPARTAME (NutraSweet, Equal,
Spoonful, etc.) and you suffer from fibromyalgia symptoms; spasms,
shooting pains, numbness in your legs, cramps, vertigo, dizziness,
    headaches,
tinnitus, joint pain, depression, anxiety attacks, slurred speech,
blurred vision, or memory loss......you probably have ASPARTAME
    DISEASE!"

People were jumping up during the lecture saying, "I've got some of
    these symptoms! Is it reversible?"

Yes! Not drinking diet sodas and keeping an eye out for aspartame on
    food labels.....Yes!

We have a very serious problem. A stranger came up to me and Dr. Espisto
(one of my colleagues) and said; "Could you tell me why so many people
seem to be coming down with MS?"

During a visit to a hospice, a nurse said that six of her friends, who
were heavy Diet Coke addicts, had all been diagnosed with MS. This is
    beyond coincidence!

Diet Coke and Diet Pepsi, etc.... IS NOT A DIET PRODUCT! The
Congressional Record states that it makes you crave carbohydrates and
will make you FAT. The formaldehyde stores in the fat cells,
particularly in the hips and thighs. Once off these products with no
significant increase in exercise, etc.... Dr. Roberts, in his lecture,
stated tha! ! t he had patients who lost an average of 19 pounds over a
    trial period.
Aspartame is especially dangerous for diabetics. We found that
physicians would believe that they have a patient with retinopathy, when
in fact the symptoms are caused by aspartame. The aspartame drives the
blood sugar out of control. Thus diabetics may suffer acute memory loss
due to the fact that aspartic acid and phenylalanine are neurotoxic
without the other amino acids found in protein. Thus it passes the blood
brain barrier and deteriorates the neurons of the brain, causing in
diabetics (as well as in patients not suffering from diabetes) various
    kinds of brain damage,
seizures, depression, manic depression, panic attacks, rage and
violence. (The Aspartame in thousands of pallets of Diet Coke and Diet
Pepsi consumed by men and women fighting in the Gulf War, may be
partially to blame for the well-known Gulf War Syndrome.)
artificial sweetener in diet drinks , ASPARTAME. So what do they care if
you live or die using their product, they make flooring !!!!

Books on this subject are available:

EXCITOTOXINS: THE TASTE THAT KILLS - written by Dr. Russell
Blayblock (Health Press 1-800-643-2665) and DEFENSE AGAINST
    ALZHEIMER'S DISEASE - written by Dr. H. J. Roberts also a diabetic
    specialist.

These two doctors will be posting a position paper with some case
histories on the deadly effects of Aspartame on the Internet.

According to the Conference of the American College of Physicians "we
are talking about a plague of neurological diseases caused by this
    deadly poison."

Here is the problem: There were Congressional Hearings when Aspartame was included in 100 different products. Since this initial hearing, there have been two subs! ! equent hearings, but to no avail. Nothing has been done. The drug
and chemical lobbies have very deep pockets. Now there are over 5,000
products containing this chemical, and the PATENT HAS EXPIRED!

I assure you, MONSANTO, the creator of Aspartame knows how deadly it is.

Yes, horrible stuff and should be banned across the globe. The global diet will benefit without this kind of muck in our food. Typically big business rarely listens to the pleadings of the learned and simply look at how the figures are balancing.

If you want to check for aspartane in a product, what do you look for in the ingredients list? I mean, will it necessarily use that name, or will it be broken down into consituent ingredients that are difficult to identify? Or go by some chemical name that normal people wouldn't recognise as aspartame? Are there other artificial sweeteners that have the same effect? Are you likely to find it in all sweetened products or just ones that say "sugarfree"? Sorry for all the questions, but I'm a little concerned and I know these people are sneaky, sneaky bastards.

In the UK at least, I believe it is a legal requirement to have the name of the sweetener listed on the label, but I may be wrong. Products I have used in the past have the actual word 'Aspartame' listed.

It is only recently that I have started checking for this substance and it is shocking to find that many of the products I used to use had this compound onboard.

    Holy Cow!

My MIL has been getting after me lately when she sees me drinking diet anything. I thought she was just being freaky. Thank you for this post. I will make sure that I check everything now. She really got excited when my son (who is 10) drank my diet Pepsi. I have been following the South Beach diet for the last two months and I have bought sugar-free stuff all along. I guess if it isn't made with Splenda, I don't want it~unless that is bad for you also. Does anyone know if there is any undesireable effects with Splenda. I think it is just another form of sugar, right?

Well, I drink it for taste and pleasure, not the health benefits.

Peeps, please notice that you don't have a clue who wrote this or their level of scientific expertise. The author likely has self-published 7 books giving false hope to cancer victims if they'll just follow his nutritional rantings (and send extra money for a monthly dose of bull nose shark sperm).

It's true about the formaldehyde at a certain temperature though. I've tasted caffiene free diet cokes that sat around an overly warm studio for too long, and you can taste the chemical change; it taste like formaldehyde.

Aspartame is not poison, and I have no idea why these untrue tales keep getting spread across the internet. The only people that should avoid it are ones that are truly allergic to it or ones that can't handle phenylalanine. (Very few people fall into this category.)

Aspartame is very simple. It is made up from two protein components... aspartic acid and phenylalanine. These are found naturally in any food that contains protein!

I love how people throw out the scary sounding terms wood alcohol, methanol (same thing as wood alcohol), formaldehyde, formic acid, etc.

When your body digests apartame, it is broken down to aspartate, phenylalanine, and methanol. Methanol in the body is converted to formaldehyde, and that is turned into formic acid. Is that bad? No.

You'll get much more methanol from fruit juices (especially tomato juice). There is much more phenylalanine in milk or chicken.

Don't worry... continue to drink those delicious aspartame-enriched drinks.

This is an extract from the following web site: http://www.chm.bris.ac.uk/motm/aspartame/aspartameh.html

Phenylalanine is one of the "essential" amino acids, meaning that humans must get it from their diet. It is a precursor for the synthesis of tyrosine and several neurotransmitters. Excess phenylalanine is broken down to fumarate and acetoacetate, both of which are part of normal energy metabolism. People who lack the enzyme to convert phenylalanine to tyrosine are not able to metabolize phenylalanine normally. This condition is called phenylketonuria because, in these people, excess phenylalanine is instead converted to phenylketones which appear in the urine. If it is not detected and treated, this condition can lead to mental retardation. This was the first genetic disease for which a routine screening test became available. Persons having this genetic defect must monitor their intake of phenylalanine. For this reason, products containing aspartame carry an information label for phenylketonurics.

This tends to put things is perspective.

Did it say anything about a condition in which the excess aspartame is converted to urine (and large quantities of urine at that) at exactly the same time as important things happen in the movie you're watching?
