Born into it as a third generation witness. Left it when I was 19, came back when I was 24. Left for the final time when I was 35. So all in all, 35 years out and 12 years free.

baptized for 21 years before I left about 1 year ago--studied for 3 years before I was baptized. Was concidered for a long time to be "spiritually weak" because it took me so long to make up my mind to get dunked. Still wasn't feeling sure when I did get baptized, but one sister insisted that all my questions would eventually be answered--guess she was right in some ways...should have listened to my gut in the first place, but you know your weren't supposed to "lean on your own understanding" and "the heart is treacherous and desperate"and "the dangers of independent thinking" ..and all that blah blah blah...

Met JW's March 1971, started study with them, baptised January 6th, 1972, attended last meeting August 1999, became Christian March 2000, baptised Christian January 6th, 2001, offically disassociated from JW's Septenber 2001.

Wouldn't have bothered to DA but 2 years after I had stopped going to meetings, become a Christian, then they decide to come and see me. Then it was only to get me back to make up the numbers. Made me mad so wrote them a DA letter. That caused my JW wife, who I was already separated from, and two JW daughters to stopped having any contact with me, and have not done so for the past 3 years.

It was strange that they didn't mind I had become aChristian and attending a church, but as soon as I had DA'd it all changed.

Active, and the termed is used very loosely, from 1974 until 1988, drifted (faded) until disassociating in the early '90's. I still intend to discover the exact date when I DA'd just for curiosity sake.

    Mini,

I don't believe so, as I served as a MS for several years, but I have always had a rebellious streak in my character. I just lost interest - my life was passing me by, and I could see there was more to life than being a jdub.

Baptized 30 yrs (close to 31 now)
