I remember when I was a kid and lightning struck a telephone pole about 20 feet away and blinded me for several seconds. The power surge blew out the TV and other things.

When I was living in the UK, I was at a convention in Manchester, North West England. On Saturday morning, the most INCREDIBLE thender/lightning extravaganza raged directly overhead the stadium. The flash was so bright it filled everything with white light, and the thunderclap was deafeningly instantaneous!
Most of the conventioners seemed to be somewhat scared. I, on the other hand, thought it was spectacular and awe-inspiring!
Anyway, I'm sending you a hug from China :)

Nonchristians have lightening fears. Since my christian daze, i have loved lightening. Silly, huh? It had something to do w jesus orbiting the earth as a bright light when he was to come. Jesus has fizzled, but lightening hasn't.

...He shall come as the lightening from the east... Just wondering, how does lightening come from the east..and the desert shall bloom like the rose...how does the rose bloom that's so different than other flowers and how will the desert do that?? Goll, I think I'm having a "lightening indused JW flash back". god forbid!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Anyone ever heard "the Devil beats his wife with a silver chain" as a colloquialism for lightning? It's a line in a great Texas folk/country song about a cowboy trying to outrun a thunderstorm, but I've never come across anyone who has ever heard the expression used.
Sheesh Flash, I wasn't askeered for me, I was skeered for my computer and electronics and the bunnies who live in the back yard. And for Xena, cuz I'm not close enough to just be in the way when she catches the lightning bug, lol
