    got my forty homey?

I did it for about a year to lose wieght and I enjoyed it very much. when I get some extra money I want to purchase a light and sound machine which pretty much does the same thing.

I've read a bit on hypnosis and it does seem to be an acutal phenomenon that can affect certain highly suggestable people. Hypnosis can't make you do something you don't really want to do, can't reliably uncover "repressed" memories, and has been found to be highly ineffective in helping people lose weight or quit smoking.

For those who can be hypnotized, they are put into a trance-like state - an altered consciousness. Though hypnotized people seem to be in a highly suggestable state during hypnosis, there is no evidence of long term effects of suggestions. In other words, once the person is back to reality they are no longer "under control". This is why being hypnotized to stop smoking and lose weight do not work.

We all go into and out of trances every day.......... every day.

The "trance" if you want to call it that, is no different then the natural "trances" you experience every day.

Sure, the question is do you actually know that? It is easy to acknowledge this point intellectually on the logical basis, an intelligent JW will even agree with you - but the faithful one will not see that they are in fact 'under the influence' when it comes to the religion. Incidentally, when it comes to religion it becomes like self-hypnosis in a way doesn't it? Yet this is not limited to those who are religious. The same could be said regarding our sense of self, this is basically the same as what I call the religious consciousness. To me a mind that is healthy and vital just doesn't have much need for such states. It can use different states, but that intelligence is totally free from these states.

All I know is that my school actually had a hypnotist come in for a school assembly, and of course I wasn't allowed to go, stuck in some study hall room for 2 hours. From what I hear, everyone had a good time, but you can never be too careful with the damn devil.
