ROBERT K,
I KNOW THAT I AM A GOOD PERSON WHETHER I BE A WITNESS OR NOT. THIS IS NOT A NEGATIVE SITE AT ALL. IT HAS HELPED ME TREMENDOUSLY. I AM ABLE TO TALK TO OTHERS WHO HAVE THE SAME SOMEWHAT RELIGIOUS BACKGROUND AS MYSELF. THIS IS A PLACAE WHERE I CAN TALK AND I KNOW THAT THERE WILL BE PEOPLE WHO WILL UNDERSTAND WHAT I AM TALKING ABOUT AND WHAT I AM DEALING WITH. I DON'T THINK THAT IT IS FAIR OF YOU TO PUT DOWN WHAT YOU DON'T KNOW OR WHAT YOU ARE BEING TOLD NOT TO GET INVOLVED WITH. I THANK JEHOVAH FOR HELPING ME TO FIND THIS SITE. I KNOW THAT HE IS REAL EVEN IF HIS ORGANIZATION MIGHT NOT BE. I DON'T GIVE UP ON HIM, I JUST GIVE UP ON MOST OF HIS HYPOCRITACAL MEMBERS.
I SAY, HOWEVER, LIFE AND LET LIFE. YOU DO WHAT YOU FEEL YOU SHOULD FOR YOURSELF. DON'T PUT OTHERS DOWN BECAUSE THAT IS WHAT YOU WERE TOLD TO DO. GET A MIND OF YOUR OWN. OH EXCUSE ME, I KNOW THAT MIGHT BE HARD FOR YOU IF YOU LET IT BE THAT WAY.
PEOPLE HERE DO CARE ABOUT ONE ANOTHER. GIVE IT A CHANCE INSTEAD OF BEING TOLD WHAT TO DO TAKE A STAND FOR YOURSELF. DON'T BE AFRAID.
PEACE
Kent, I don't think there was need for that type of response. Sure, he disagrees with some of the opinions on this forum but hey, I had those exact same opinions once and being told:
Could I respectfully ask you to go fuck yourself? I don't know who you are, but you jumped into a chat earlier today. All participants greeted you, but you never answered anyone.I really hope you take your big ass, empty head, and experiences from the dim people - and follow my advice. Piss off - nobody will ever miss you - and you can keep on pretending being happy!

What an asshole!!!
...would not have changed them at all but reinforced everything that I had been told to expect.
Thanks for your help, I would really appreciate it.

Robert,
Guessing at what perspective you are looking at this site I can
understand your feeling of nothing positive being presented here.
If you follow the watchtower society blindly and just accept what they have
to say as the absolute truth about how you should live your life then you
might want to consider never coming back here.
If you have the slightest doubts or are starting to see things that you
feel might not be completely right, this site may hold a few
answers for you are at least give you a few things to think about.
If you do indeed examine your religion as the JW's urge in a
conditional manner with strict guidelines on the way you are allowed
to examine it you will glean nothing from this site. If you take their
suggestion as a challenge and can look at the pages of this site with
an open mind and heart you may find out that hearing both sides of the
issue can be beneficial and positive. If you find the contents of this
site to be full of lies and prejudice thought then it should make your religious
convictions even stronger which will definitely be a positive thing for you. By reading the comments posted here it should give you more of a complete understanding of the many teachings and issues within the organization by giving you a chance to examine both sides of the issues. There can't be a negative connotation attached to the idea of hearing both sides of a story in the search to find the truth can there? Only hearing one side of an
issue will never result in understanding the complete truth. If you do have the truth then what is said on these pages shouldn't waver your thinking at all.
From the standpoint of being an ex-JW or one that has spent time honestly
looking at the religion this site holds a tremendous amount of positive
information. Just as there are several levels of "spiritual strength" with in
your own congregation there are several levels of perspective by present and past JW's on this site. They all have different ways of expressing their views about their past or present association with the religion. Some are very inquisitive, some are very angry, and some just come here to associate with people that have a good understanding of
how they feel and what they have gone through.
Don't try and group all of us into one state of mind because we are not. Don't read
a few lines and think that everyone is bitter and hostile. Try reading several threads
and get a broader picture about the people that post on this board. Pick and choose those to respond to according to what you yourself are feeling and thinking. It took a little bit
of courage to make your first post. Don't stop there. You can go away thinking we are all a bunch of angry ex-Jws and that we are out to destroy something that you find security in
or you can stay and read a little more and find out that we are all different and share the freedom to be so.
You took the first step by looking, reading, and posting. Now what you do with that is up to you. Do you have an open mind or are you as bitter as you think we all are? It's all in how you look at it.

Hi Simon
You said that: I don't think there was need for that type of response. Sure, he disagrees with some of the opinions on this forum but hey.
Well. A simple lesson from a simple man close to the north pole:
If you're spitting snuff against the wind, you're gonna get freckles!
If you start up like this guy did, you will get responses like this - and I'm 100% sure that was what he wanted as well.
Ever heard of a TROLL, Simon?

RobertK, I am sincere in asking you this, would you still feel this way if this was a discussion board with catholics discussing their doubts? be honest.
I guess it's a difficult judgement to make whether someone is a troll or genuine. I'd hope we'd try and judge by more than one post though. It is strange though going to the trouble of registering (not that it's that difficult though) just to make a critical post like that but it didn't seem to me to be too aggressive really. And if they are genuine then at least they are talking and engaging with us which is more than most would.

Hi RobertK, I was interested in your comments becuase they peaked my interest and I would like to respond to your post. I think it would be too easy to identify this web site as being "anti-witness" because I think that label can be very deceptive. I think like a lot of organizations there's a lot of good things you will find in the world-wide organization of Jehovah's Witnesses. Likewise, there may be things we're not all going to agree on. There are more than 6 million Jehovah's Witnesses in the world today. Would it be reasonable to conclude that they are all going to believe the same things. Likewise, I do not believe that when Jehovah made humankind, he assumed that everyone who would fill his planet, all the billions of people, would act and think alike as well. The watchtower and awake magazines continually emphasize the beauty in diversity we see in nature. Would it be wise to concude that mankind, the most glorious of his creations would be reflective of that as well. I find the web site to be conducive for helping me voice by fears, doubts, hopes, and feelings. Not once have I tried to criticize Jehovah's Witnesses. I think we live in a world built upon the free market of ideas and I think there is room for all sorts of opinions as long as they involve respect for other people's opinions. You'll find a wide variety of opinions on these boards, and I find very little of it to be anti-witness. Personally, I'm not anti-witness, nevertheless, the boards have given me room to be honest about how I feel. Something that I felt I could not do in the congregation that I went to. Anyway, that's my view. Thank you for posting.
its no good Kent I've got to ask.....
when you were a jw in a previous life and a householder
told ya the 'troof' sux while you were doing door to door stuff
