How many times have they tried to find that thing? And it's in Turkey, for God's sake...not like people haven't been running around in those parts forever.

If there was an ark, it probably got salvaged over time.. like the Colossus of Rhodes.

"Geologists say even though there is evidence of a flood in Mesopotamia in Sumerian times, it is not possible for a ship to make landfall at an altitude as high as Mount Ararat."

So what happens then if what they find is truly Noah's Ark? How will people from different religions and cultures rationalize the find? Will they accept that it is really the Ark? What about people who claim to be atheist? Will this just be a bunch of timber that got washed up somehow at 17k feet? What if there are artifacts found that date to that period?

If it really is THE ark, this could turn out to be an amazing discovery that will spawn numerous debates and arguments......just like this thread will.

Indeed it would be amazing if they found it and would spark debate. Finding a warm cabin at the North Pole with a Jolly Fat man sitting by the fire would spark debate as well,.

The likelihood of the ark being preserved in a fine state is very, very, very, very, very, very, very, slim indeed (sorry for the verys).

The last program I saw on BBC1 in the UK which appeared to be relatively well researched, suggested that the ark if it had rested upon a higher slope of Mount Ararat, would have been pushed down by the formation of ice into a valley region. During this process the ark would have broken apart and would most likely have decayed. Of course this was only theory, but it is as good as any other I have heard.

I'd love them to find the ark.

I understand your feelings IronGland - I go through phases like that myself. My faith is up and down like the proverbial yo-yo.

"We are not excavating it. We are not taking any artifacts. We're going to photograph it and, God willing, you're all going to see it," McGivern said.

Great... guess we can look forward to some more blurry photos of snow and rock with arrows pointing to various parts of the "boat". LOL

I am waiting patiently for the evidence. I don't really expect there to be any, LOL!
