Just curious. I you got a "yes" to the first question, why the hell did you have to ask the second one?
To test for accuracy... if I got contradictory answers I would have known that my Magic 8 Ball was BS... but now I know that it is not!

well, for one Vietnam had been engaged in a civil war for years at this point. The residents of that area had ample opportunity to remove themselves (Jane Fonda knows this first hand). The people of the northern areas of Iraq were attempting to escape the Iraqi regime. We were able to provide the 'safe zone' for the Kurds, but unfortunately it's estimated that up to 200,000 Shi'ites were murdered. Men women and babies that were just trying to get away.
yes, there is a remarkable difference in the two. And frankly if you think it's ok for a guy like Saddam to do these things to innocent people, then I don't even care to interact with you any further.
It just makes me ill.

I don't think anyone thinks that...we're just not as dellusional as some to see Bush and the current US admin as the humanitarian "good guys" as others see them.
rev,
wait a second! you are confusing things here!
the gassing was in 1988! at the time of the iraqi iranian war! at a battle between iraqi and iranian troops.
you are talking about the uprising against hussein after the kuwait conflict.
nevertheless a tragedy but nothing that the US hasn't done either in its history.
point is not that hussein is a nice guy but that there is huge double standard.

Well see now you're just trying to insult and that's just plain ignorance.
I don't think the US is perfect and I don't think Bush is perfect, but we better get used to him because we'll be calling him President for almost 5 more years.
Rev
you're correct Realist. I apologize, I keep sneaking off from work to use the PC and got myself all turned around :)
rev,
no problem!
Sorry, didn't mean to insult. I just can't fathom how people can think the US is the "good guys." Maybe its a lack of understanding US history, or at least from a perspective other than "we're the good guys." Even today our high school textbooks are still very Euro-centric and US-Centric.
well, I'll agree that there are many things in our past that are just incredibly wrong. I think Hiroshima was going a bit overboard. But on the same token, we can't allow these things to continue in this world and war crimes are war crimes no matter who commits them. But I don't know what this has to do with whether or not George Bush should win this election. To my knowledge (and opinion) he's not committed any war crimes.
Rev
PS - We could dig up Nixon and slap him around for Hanoi though, I'd be ok with that, hahaha
Slap Nixon for Hanoi? Why? We should have continued to pulverize not only Hanoi, but also Laos and Cambodia...the whole reason Vietnam became a "quagmire" is because we wouldn't fight the darned war...how in God's name can you defeat an enemy without attacking it's headquarters and it's supply routes?
Mulan,
Yep, I see Hillary getting the nod in 2008 from the DNC, Condi would give her a run for her money.
I'm convinced that you started shouting "SERVES YOU RIGHT" when the WTC got hit Realist.
