Here in the northern hemisphere we are experiencing spring.

There are some smells I just love especially in the spring. Fresh cut grass just makes me feel good. A fresh spring rain is very comforting. Also the smell of wet earth is marvelous.

The smell of a baby is delicious. (No he isn't here yet and we are all still waiting for him to decide to be born.)

Coconut is fabulous. When I was in college we had a candy factory across the street I love the days they were making coconut candies. You could smell it for miles.

I love the smell of roses in the spring time and lavender all year round. And popcorn which oddly reminds me of smelly socks which I hate (Go figure)

For some reason the smell of a can of apple juice that has just been opened so comforting although I don't know why. I do know it triggers a good feeling from my early school years though.

Clothes dried on the clothesline that have been windblown dry is wonderful. I can inhale that all day long. I also love to hear them flapping in the wind.

I love the sound of a lawnmower (probably connected to the smell of cut grass) and the sound of a prop plane.

Oh and I love the smell when you first light a match.

Old Spice aftershave and Player's cigarettes make me feel sick (both connected with my father). The smell of player's affects me so strongly I have what I think is an allergic reaction - wattery eyes, sneezing and I don't even have to see that it is Player's they are smoking. I am sooo glad they have a ban against smoking in public places now.

Stale beer and cigars - yuck

Codfish, also connected with my father. No other fish can turn my stomach as fast as cod.

I'm sure I will think of more later

    What about you?

I love the smell of Baby Magic lotion, Chanel No. 5, honeysuckle, mexican food, Breck shampoo, sandlewood, Gain fabric softener, Sweet Olive tree, peaches, and barns....( yeah weird huh).

I think the sweetest sound is a baby laughing very hard, it always makes me laugh too. I love the sounds of frogs and crickets, the sound of rain in the early morning, birds singing, windchimes, and the sound a tap dancer makes on a hard wood floor.

Oh oh you both have such great ones

I love the sound of water as long as it isn't a drip drip drip of the tiolet running

But natural water - waterfalls, softly lapping water, waves crashing on the beach or rocks wow I love them all.

Fresh baked bread of any kind, melted chocolate in a fondue, heck chocolate anytime, fresh coffee in the morning, roast chicken awww I could go on forever with food

Lilies of the valley and sweet hyacinth, almost any kind of forest

We have a bird outside my daughter's house that sings all day but I have never heard this before. I can imitate it pretty well and he will answer back.

I can't wait for baby laughter - that wonderful sounds when you paly with them and they just keep laughing at you over and over like they never saw that before - thanks for that one LE

    Peppermint soap

    Coconut sun cream

Whoops, LOL, newborn heads should have come under smells, not sounds. The sound of a newborn head is not likely to bring joy to many.

I love all of these too, Lady Lee, and when the sprinklers come on during the heat of the day and wet the hot asphalt in a parking lot or street - that smells awesome.

I also love to hear night creature sounds - crickets, owls, etc. That's great.

And for some reason, tires on a pebble driveway is are appealing.

Isn't it odd some of the things that appeal to us. Some I think are quite common but then there are those other things that we feel good about but can't quite put our finger on why.

A lot of the ones on my first list, like the apple juice just give me a sense of inner peace, calmness.

That's it! When I'm all stressed out all I should do is open a can of apple juice lol
