Maya...I really appreciate that your heart is in the right place, and perhaps for most a simple solution works.
You are quite right in saying that courage is very important, just sometimes other qualities are also needed.
I know quite a few that have tried the slow quiet exit and for them it has been quite successful.
I tried to do the slowly pulling away thing but it was just to painful to drag things out that way. Finally just made a clean break. My Dad kept trying to drag me back in until finally I turned him in to the society for several things and got a restraining order and threateded to press legal charges against him, all in the same day. I guess he finally got the picture because now he leaves me alone.

Do to other circumstances taking place at the same time, it was anything but quiet, slow, or a fade.
Three elders got the cursing of their life. That seemed to do the job.

Fade away. The last congregation I went to was for about two or three years, but I did not make myself well known in it, so it was somewhat easier to fade from that hall. No one there much cared being that I didn't hang out with anyone anyways.
The very few friends still in think that I am "spiritually weak" and we just don't even bring it up at all.
Hey.......if a "slow, quiet fade" can work for someone.........then all I can say is......

There is no Identikit way to leave the borg...a list of instructions that we can follow that will work out for us
I guess we all have to do as we see fit. if it works great...if not...well thats life
Did the fade for a while. Couldn't take it any more, so 2 years 5 months ago I stopped going to the meetings. Since then I've been to one Memorial and I do go the the Assemblies with my hubby to keep him company, plus I like to keep tabs on the latest BS that's being spewed out (why are Assemblies so interesting to Apostates :-)

I did the slow fade and it took about 5 years. Now they pretty much leave me alone except for the Memorial invite
And yet.....you refuse to believe that leaving can be quite simple..............
It is only complicated IF you MAKE it..........
So,,,, don't make it........
